Furry Friend Friday

Furry Friend Friday With Mohawk!

Mohawk

We’re back with a very special Furry Friend Friday interview!  Today I got to chat with Mohawk, a 3 year old greyhound mix up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton!  This cute boy came all the way from Indiana, and has been in the shelter since August so he’s ready for his forever home!

So Mohawk, you’re a very cute guy and have an interesting name, how did you get it?

Well it’s funny you ask, I actually have a bit of a mohawk on the back of my neck so that’s where I got my name!  You can’t really see it too well in the picture, but if you come visit me you’ll see it and how adorable I am!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well here at the shelter there’s a huge fenced in field that I get to run around in and play with other dogs, that’s really fun for me.  I’m not quite a  puppy anymore but I still have a good amount of energy and love to go for walks and be outside.

Do you have a favorite toy?

Not at the moment, I love toys but don’t really have too many of my own here at the shelter, I would love to have a favorite once I find my forever family though!

What about a favorite treat?

I’m a pretty easy going guy and love the classic milk bones, you can’t go wrong with those!

Is there anything that scares you?

Well I’d say loud noises make me nervous, thunder is a good example.  I’m not a scaredy cat but loud noises do put me on edge a bit.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I can fit in with almost anyone, I would like to be with a family that could bring me for walks or has a big fenced in yard where I can play.  I’m a great companion, but I don’t mind being alone sometimes so if you have to go for work that’s ok.  I get along with other dogs as well, but not sure about cats yet, I haven’t been around too many of them so I’m not sure how we would get along.

So Mohawk, why do you think pet insurance is an important thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well it sounds like it would be easier to pay a little bit of money over the long run than having to come up with a lot of money all at once if something ever happens to pets.  Accidents aren’t something you usually plan for, but pet insurance will make it easy to be prepared for the unexpected when it comes to your pet.

When it comes to our pets, you can never be too prepared, that’s why pet insurance is a great thing for all pet parents to consider investing in.  Give us a call at MassDrive and get a free quote from one of our agents!

Furry Friend Friday With Boo Boo!

booboo

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  We’re back with another interview to get your weekend started in the right direction, today I got to chat with Boo Boo, a 1 year old Pekingese/Shiba Inu mix up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society!

Hi Boo Boo!  Could you be any cuter?!  Thanks for taking the time to sit down with me today!

Oh you’re too kind, it’s my pleasure to be able to do this!  I love being around people, so when I heard about the opportunity, I jumped at it!

Well what’s your favorite thing to do during the day?

Well I’m still a puppy so I’m pretty active, I love going on nice long walks!  I’m a fast runner, and here at the shelter I get to run around with the other dogs, so that’s fun.  I’m also a big people person, once I get to know them (I can be a little shy at first), but I love cuddling up on a nice warm lap after a walk!

Do you have a favorite toy?

I like playing with all toys!  If I had to choose a favorite I would say those plush squeaky toys, they’re awesome and I love the noise they make!

What about a favorite treat?

I LOVE cheese, it’s my favorite by far!  I also love ice cream, but since those are both people foods I don’t get my paws on them as often as I would like.

Is there anything that scares you?

Well, I’m not much of a tough guy, and I’m pretty shy to begin with, so I get really nervous around big dogs or hyper dogs that I don’t know.  I’m on the smaller side, and those bigger guys just intimidate me.

So what do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I could fit in at a lot of places, I’m good with kids as long as they are dog savvy and respectful, I could even go to a home with cats!  When it comes to other dogs, I would be alright with another little one like myself, as long as they are calm.  I would like to go somewhere that I can be active and go on lots of walks, or run around a fenced in yard.  I would also like to find someone that can be patient with me, like I said I can be pretty shy until I get to know you so I hope I can find a forever family that will help me come out of my shell!

Boo Boo why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well pets are part of the family, and when you already have a human family it can be expensive!  I can only imagine how much it would cost to pay for some unexpected vet bills.  Pet insurance is an affordable way to make sure your pets are protected like every other member of your family.

When it comes to vet visits, pet parents may dread it just as much as their pet.  Not only is it hard enough to watch our furry friends suffer, it’s hard to come up with a huge amount of money to pay their bills!  Pet insurance is surprisingly affordable and can really be instrumental in getting the best possible care for your pet, be prepared for anything and call one of our agents today for a free quote!

Furry Friend Friday With Woodrow!

woodrow

We’re back with another Furry Friend Friday interview!  Today I got to chat with Woodrow, a 1 year-old pit bull mix up for adoption at the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield.  This cutie is very friendly but has been looking for his forever home for a while now, so if you’re looking for a new best friend be sure to stop by and pay Woodrow a visit!

Hi Woodrow!  I’m glad you were able to sit down with me, what do you usually do for fun during the day?

Well I love being around people and getting petted, it’s my absolute favorite thing!  I also have a lot of energy, so I love playing outside in the yard.  I’m really lucky because I get to spend some time in foster care, and don’t even have to stay in the shelter (not that it’s bad, it’s just too much for me)!  I get to play outside in the back yard, and the neighbors even have a dog that I get to play with!

What about toys?  Do you have any favorites?

I have a lot that come to mind, I’m a very lucky guy and have a lot of toys to choose from!  I really love squeaky toys and rope toys, I like playing tug of war and love the sounds the squeaky toys make and chasing them around.  Another favorite of mine are Nylabones, they’re like a snack and a toy combined because I can chew on them and they keep me entertained for a while.

Is there anything that you’re afraid of?

Not really, I’m a pretty tough pup!  I was found as a stray and picked up by animal control, and the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society was nice enough to give me a chance!  I learned a lot from my time on the streets and saw some crazy stuff, but none of it phased me at all!  Even though I’m a big lovebug I don’t scare easy!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, I think a family that has experience with dogs would be great.  I’m still a young pup and have more to learn, but I’m very smart and pick things up quickly!  I love kids but because I’m so big and have so much energy I would probably be better off in a home with older kids.  I could even go to a home with another dog, as long as I get to meet them first!  No cats though, they’re too much fun to chase!

When it comes to pet insurance, why do you think it’s a good idea for all pet parents to consider?

Well when I was out on the streets, I saw a lot of stuff and I was lucky enough to be found unharmed but there were a lot of dangerous things out there!  Between cars, fleas, ticks, and more, there were a lot of things that could have put me in danger!  That’s just my own experience though, I’m sure other pets can find ways to get into trouble that may wind them up in the vet’s office, and those bills can add up quickly!

Woodrow is a pretty smart pup, and is so right about the everyday dangers that come face to face with our pets!  Pet insurance is a great way to make sure your pets, and your wallet are protected in the event of any accidents, call one of our agents today for a free quote!

Furry Friend Friday With Ralphie!

ralphie

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  We’re back with another interview, today I got to sit and chat with Ralphie, an 11 month old border terrier mix up for adoption at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem.  This little guy is always smiling and is ready to find his forever home!

Hey Ralphie, thanks for sitting down with me today!  When you’re not doing interviews, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

You’re very welcome, I was so excited to get to do something different today!  I love exploring and trying new things, my absolute favorite thing to do is go on walks!  It doesn’t matter where I go, I just love being out and about and smelling new things!  I’m also very excited for the fall season, the leaves have already started falling and whenever I see them I love to chase them!  I’m a very active little guy, and I’m still a puppy so I have a lot of energy to burn.

Do you have a favorite place to go for a walk?

I like going anywhere, especially new places.  Right now I go out in the play yard a lot and the walking trail near the shelter, I hope when I find my forever family they take me on a lot of hikes!

What about a favorite treat or toy?

When it comes to treats, I’ll take whatever I can get!  I love a nice snack no matter what it is.  In terms of toys, I LOVE squeaky toys!  I chase them all over the play yard when I’m outside, and I’m pretty fast so I can get to them before a lot of the other dogs.

Is there anything that scares you?

Nothing I can think of, and nothing I have experienced so far, I’m pretty tough for such a little guy!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I would love to go home with someone that is active, like me!  I’d love to go for runs or even hiking to burn off my energy!  Other than that, I would be great with a family with older children age 12 or up, I’m a very good boy but am still working on my manners and wouldn’t want to scare any little ones.

Ralphie, why do you think pet insurance is a good idea for all pet parents to consider?

Well, I’m still young so I haven’t had too many life experiences but from what I can tell it just seems like a good idea to protect your pets and their health.  From what I’ve seen so far, vet bills can be very expensive!  I wouldn’t want to pay those myself, so I can’t imagine having to pay a huge vet bill on top of all the other bills pet parents have!

Ralphie may be young, but he’s wise beyond his years!  Pet parents know better than anyone how expensive vet bills can be, and pet insurance is the best way to protect your pet and your wallet, so call one of our agents for a free quote today, you may be surprised at how affordable pet insurance actually is!

Furry Friend Friday With Droid!

droid

We’re back with another Furry Friend Friday interview!  It’s not too often that we interview cats, but today I got to sit down with Droid and ask him a few questions!  This 2 year-old cutie is up for adoption at Sterling Animal Shelter in Sterling, Massachusetts, so if you’re looking for the perfect companion and lap cat, look no further!

Hi Droid! We’re so excited to have a cat here today, it doesn’t usually happen that often!

Well thank you, I’m happy to be here!  I love doing anything that gets me out of my cage!

So what is your favorite way to spend the day?

Well as I said, doing anything that gets me out of my cage is fun for me.  I really like being around people, which I think makes me a pretty cool cat because not all cats are as friendly as me.  I like being petted a lot and just exploring my environment, I used to live out on the streets and explored a lot, but now I’m an indoor cat because it’s safer for me.

Do you have a favorite treat?

I don’t have a favorite flavor in particular, but I LOVE all treats!  The staff here use them to trick me into my cage, they think I don’t know what they’re up to, but I really do and just can’t resist a treat even if it does mean going back in my cage.

What about a favorite toy?

I have a few catnip toys here that I play with, they roll all over the place and I have fun chasing them around.  Plus, chasing them around also helps to keep me in shape.

What about fears, is there anything you’re afraid of?

Not really, I’m not a very timid cat.  After being out on the streets for a while, I got pretty tough and learned how to take care of myself.  I came face to face with dogs, skunks, and some pretty crazy stuff out there in the wild and none of it scared me, so now as a house cat I can’t imagine anything making me too nervous.

What do you think would be the perfect home for you?

I could really fit in anywhere, whether it’s with an elderly couple that is just looking for someone to pet, or a family looking for someone to play with, I know I could have so much fun and just want to find my forever family!  I’ve been at the shelter for a few months now so I really hope it happens soon!

Why do you think pet insurance is a good idea for all pet parents to consider?

Well as a stray, I saw a lot of crazy stuff!  It’s easy for pets to get hurt out there and pet insurance is a great way for pet parents to protect their wallet while also ensuring that their pets will get the vet care they need as well!

Droid is a very smart guy, not only is he street smart he also knows how to plan for the future!  Pets can easily find their way into trouble, but owners can easily protect them!  Call us for a free pet insurance quote today and keep your furry friend safe no matter what!

Furry Friend Friday With Opie!

opie

Today is an extra exciting Furry Friend Friday because we’re about to kick off a long weekend with family, friends, and of course food!  To get your weekend started off on the right foot, check out our interview with Opie, a 2 year-old redtick coon hound up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc.

So Opie, I hear you’re not originally from Massachusetts, how do you like it here so far?

Well it’s very different from Kentucky, which is where I’m originally from, but I have to say I love it here so far!  Everyone here at Greyhound Friends is so nice and they took me in even though I wasn’t a greyhound! How awesome is that?  I’ve had a good time here so far, but am really excited to find my forever family because I’ve been at the shelter for 2-3 months now and would love a home of my own!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I love going on walks, I’m still a little bit of a puppy and I’d say I have a medium energy level, I love being outside and walking along the treeline near the shelter, there’s a meadow that I get to explore too and that’s nice.  I also love being around people whenever I can!

Do you have a favorite treat?

I’ll take whatever I can get when it comes to food, I love to eat anything and everything!

What about fears, is there anything that scares you?

Nothing I can think of off the top of my head, I like to think I’m a pretty tough guy.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I really get along great with people of any age! I’m great with kids but since I can still be a little rambunctious sometimes I would probably be better in a home with older kids.  I even love other dogs so if you already have a pet I’m sure we would get along great!

Why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, coming from Kentucky to Massachusetts I’ve met a lot of people and animals and seen accidents happen where pets get hurt or eat something they shouldn’t have and their owners have to come up with  a lot of money!  Pet insurance just seems like a good idea because it protects your pets like every other member of your family!

Our pets are family, so they should be protected like it.  Pet insurance provides peace of mind and allows owners to rest easy knowing that should any unexpected health issues come up, they won’t have to break the bank on vet bills.  It’s also surprisingly affordable, call one of our agents today for a free quote!

Furry Friend Friday With Bruschi!

bruschi

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  Today I got to sit down with this handsome boy named Bruschi, up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society.  Bruschi is an 8 year-old husky/shepherd mix and has had a rough few months, he’s currently recovering from a leg injury after being hit by a bus!  This cutie is a trooper though and took some time to chat with me this afternoon.

So Bruschi, I’m glad to see you’re recovering!  What is your favorite way to spend the day?

Thank you, I’m feeling a lot better and have more pep in my step every day!  My favorite thing to do is be around people though.  I love my friends here at the shelter and they even let me hang out in the office with them sometimes!  I would have to say that is my favorite way to spend the day, I don’t like to be alone for too long.  I’m also talented too!  I’m a very good singer and if you start to howl, I’ll howl right along with you!

I know you’re an older guy and are very mature, but do you ever take some time to play with toys?

I love playing with toys no matter how old I am!  My absolute favorite toy is a squeaky plush ball that I bring everywhere with me!  When I do have to be alone, having my toys makes me feel a little better.

Do you like to go for walks?

I actually just started going for walks and I’m doing great!  I can’t go too far yet, but I’m building up my strength as we speak.  I have more pep in my step every day and am feeling better than ever.

What about fears?  Is there anything that scares you?

Not that I can think of, I’m not trying to brag but I’m a pretty tough guy, I am part shepherd and husky after all!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, I would love to be with someone that would be home a lot to give me attention and pet me.  Maybe a retired couple looking for a companion or a family with a lot of kids to play with me!  I’m a friendly boy and would get along with almost everyone, except for other animals.  I would have to be the only pet in my new home because I don’t like to share the spotlight and want all of your attention for myself!

Bruschi, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, as I’ve seen in my own life, accidents happen and you never know when they will be so it’s hard to budget for something unexpected like that.  I was very lucky here at the shelter because after I was injured I had a lot of nice people taking care of me!

Bruschi’s story is a perfect example of why pet insurance is a great investment.  He was unexpectedly hit by a bus and if that were to happen to any pet, the vet bills would be pretty high.  If you have pet insurance, the majority of the costs for treatment would be covered!  As all pet parents know, our furry friends can always find a way to get into trouble, whether it’s something as harmless as going through the trash, or getting loose and winding up in the wrong place at the wrong time like Bruschi.  Call us for a free pet insurance quote today and protect your furry friend and your wallet from the unexpected.

Furry Friend Friday With Gilster!

Gilster

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  We’re back with another interview and today I got to chat with Gilster, a 2 year-old greyhound girl up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc. a non-profit organization in Hopkinton, dedicated to rescuing racetrack greyhounds and placing them in new homes.

So Gilster, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I’m not your typical 2 year-old, I love to go out for long walks but am very calm and love cuddling and hanging out with my people.  I used to be a racing dog down in Florida so I got a lot of energy out of my system and now that I’m retired I’m ready to relax!

When you do go for walks do you have a favorite spot?

Well there are some woods nearby the shelter here and we get to go out along the treeline and I enjoy that!  I love getting to smell around the woods and experiencing nature.

What about a favorite toy?

I’ll play with whatever’s nearby, I’m pretty easy going and am just grateful for whatever I get.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I think I could fit in anywhere, I’m very relaxed and would be perfect either with a young person or a family with kids.  I would even be fine living with another dog!  The staff here also says I would be a good city dog because I’m not skittish at all!  I really hope that I find my forever family soon, I’ve already been at the shelter for a couple of weeks and would love to finally go home!

Well you say you’re not skittish, is there anything that does scare you?

Nothing that I can think of, not loud noises or people, I’m very calm in general and don’t get riled up very often.

Why do you think all pet parents should consider pet insurance for their furry friends?

Well I’ve been around a lot of dogs in my 2 years, and I’ve seen a lot of unexpected vet bills come up!  Pet parents should always be prepared for anything that might happen to their pets and pet insurance helps with that.

Gilster is a smart girl, and has seen a lot in her short life so far.  All pets have the ability to get themselves into trouble, and sometimes they can wind up in the vet’s office because of it.  Whether they eat something they shouldn’t, get out of the yard and wind up with a few bumps and bruises, or they develop a condition in their old age, pet insurance will have you covered and prepared for anything in your pet’s future!  Call us at MassDrive for a free pet insurance quote and protect your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With KC!

KC

Happy Friday everyone, it’s a beautiful day out there and we’re celebrating with another interview!  Today I got to chat with KC, a 2 year-old plott hound mix up for adoption at the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield.  KC is a very special girl but the adoption floor makes her nervous so she is lucky enough to be kept in a section of the shelter that’s a bit more quiet and mellow, if you stop by the shelter be sure to ask about her!

So KC, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I love being outside and playing fun games!  I love running and am very active, I would love to find a family that would bring me hiking, on lots of walks, and maybe even to the beach if I’m lucky!  I spend a lot of time training here too, it’s really fun and the staff here says I’m so smart!  I could use a little help with some basic manners so a few classes would be helpful but I’m sure I can pick up quickly.  The trainers here even use me as the demo dog at the training classes here, I’m so proud of that!

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

My favorite toy ever is my stuffed toy, aka “my baby”.  I really like squeaky toys too!  Some times I like to de-squeak them when I get too excited!

What about a favorite treat?

I love Duck and Potato treats!  They are so yummy and pretty good for me!

Do you have any fears?

Well right now I am very anxious in the shelter,  the environment is stressful on me and makes me nervous!  I don’t like the constant barking, other noises, and the people coming and going all the time.  I have been here for more than three weeks which makes me a “Lonely Heart” and my adoption fee is 50% off!  Seeing my friends get adopted while I stay behind gets hard after a while, so I’m hoping I find a forever home where I can finally relax.

What would be the perfect family for you?

Well like I said, I’m very active so I would like to be with a family that can bring me outside a lot, I would also be great in a home with children ages 13 or over, don’t get me wrong, I love little kids but I’m a strong girl who can still be a bit rambunctious and I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock someone over.  When it comes to other animals, I would be alright with other dogs as long as I meet them first, but I have no experience with cats.

Why do you think pet insurance is important for all pet parents to consider?

Well I think all pet parents should be prepared for anything, no matter how old their pet is.  Pets are like humans, and the older we get the more likely it is that we will need to go to the doctor.  Even young dogs can get into trouble that can send them to the vet’s office so it’s better to be prepared and have pet insurance coverage so you don’t have to break the bank at the vet.

Regardless of your pet’s age, odds are they will end up at the vet for more than just their annual check up.  Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst and call us for a free pet insurance quote today!

Happy Furry Friend Friday!

whisksmoke

Today’s Furry Friend Friday interview is extra special, we have double the trouble (just kidding), double the excitement, double the fur, and double the cuteness this week!  Meet these two 3 year-old brothers, Smoke, and Whisk.  These cats are up for adoption at the Scituate Animal Shelter and have been looking for their forever home for a while now!  They can get separated but would prefer to be in a home together if possible!

So Whisk, how do you and your brother like to spend the day?

Well we are both very similar, not only in our looks but in our personalities as well.  Both of us like to be held and picked up, although if we get distracted by something we definitely have to go investigate so might jump right off your lap!  We are both very happy though and enjoy being around people and other cats, not too sure about dogs just yet.

What about you Smoke? Do you have a favorite toy to play with during the day?

I love squeaky toys, we both do actually.  There’s also a big scratching post that’s also a tower we can climb up on and stare out the window.  If I’m not playing with my squeaky toys, that’s usually where you’ll find me.

So Whisk do you enjoy the great outdoors?

No, we are both strictly indoor cats.  In fact, all of the cats that get adopted out from the Scituate Animal Shelter are required to be indoor cats.  It can be very dangerous outside for cats when you think of all the risks including cars, coyotes, foxes, diseases, you name it!  We enjoy being indoors anyways and don’t think we’re missing out on anything.

Smoke is there anything that makes you nervous?

Nothing in particular, we are both pretty brave and very friendly, we aren’t skittish at all around people!

Why do you both think pet insurance is important for all pet parents to consider?

Well, we are both only 3 years old but both have a mild dental condition that may need attention in the future.  At the moment it doesn’t bother us, in fact we probably wouldn’t have even known about it if it weren’t for the vet!  If you have pet insurance before something like that is discovered, treatment would be covered! That would be a huge help! – Smoke

Well, I would have to agree with my brother, and maybe if our old owners had pet insurance they could have afforded to fix the problem before it got worse. – Whisk

These two brothers are pretty smart 3 year olds!  Not only do they know the value of a dollar, they are thinking big picture when it comes to their own health.  Just as people age and need more frequent health care, the same goes for our pets so it’s best to be prepared.  Give us a call at MassDrive and get a free pet insurance quote for your furry friend today!
