In the Office

We Love Fort Point!

We can’t get enough of the amazing restaurants here in the Fort Point Section of Boston! From Mexican, to French, to Vietnamese, Fort Point has something for everyone. Our fabulous customer service rep Chrissy is here to share with us a few of her favorite restaurants in the area.

Bon Me

Chrissy’s favorite spot for lunch has to be Bon Me for its delicious food and great atmosphere. Starting with just one food truck a few years, Bon Me now has one of its own brick and mortar locations in Fort Point just a few blocks from our office. This unique Vietnamese restaurant offers sandwiches served on crusty baguettes, rice and noodle bowls, salads and much more. It can be hard to choose from the amazingly delicious and creative fillings ranging from spice rubbed chicken to roasted soy and paprika tofu, to Justin’s Jamaican jerk chicken!

Papagayo

This delicious Mexican restaurant is Chrissy’s favorite happy hour spot. She says the margaritas are “to die for” and food is so authentic. Her favorite items on the menu are the street tacos which she loves to pair with the one of the unique guacamoles. Papagayo also offers Karaoke brunch! Although Chrissy hasn’t tried out this brunching experience yet, she is definitely planning on it!

Mrs. B’s

Chrissy, as our fabulous customer service rep, is always helping our customers out and doesn’t always have a lot of time to grab lunch. When’s she’s in a pinch, she heads to Mrs. B’s café. Right around the corner from our office, this cute café has amazing premade breakfast and lunch options as well as a variety of made-to-order options including daily specials, soups, and a ton of snacks. Chrissy knows she can always depend on Mrs. B’s Cafe for fast service and delicious food.

Bastille Kitchen

This upscale gourmet French restaurant provides a gorgeous rustic atmosphere, amazing cocktails, and an outstanding menu. With local sustainable ingredients and seafood, Chrissy knows she’s always in for a treat when she heads to this modern interpretation of a classic Parisian bistro. From classic favorites with a twist, to completely unique one-of-a-kind dishes, this beautiful restaurant is a favorite for its fabulous food and amazing atmosphere.

Freshii-

Chrissy loves Freshii for its commitment to healthy and environmentally friendly food. With such a large variety of food, the options span from a fiesta style salad, to a spicy Thai burrito, to a Mediterranean inspired bowl. Chrissy says she gets really creative when customizing her lunch with all the awesome toppings such as mango, goat cheese, sesame seeds and so much more. With great coffee and breakfast options such as hot oatmeal, pocket sized breakfast burritos and fresh smoothies, it’s the perfect place to for a healthy meal any time of day.

Customer Service Appreciation Week!

Did you know that October is Customer Service Month? We have some fabulous customer service representatives in our office, and we’ll be celebrating Customer Service Month by recognizing them and the wonderful work that they do for our customers, all week long!

Day after day they man the phones, ready to help with any and all questions, concerns, or changes that may need to be made.  We think that deserves a shout out, don’t you?  We decided to ask them a few questions so that everyone can learn a little bit more about these representatives, and put a face to the people that do so much for our customers!

Spotlight On: Christine Rojcewicz!

chrissy

We have some very exciting news in our office!  One of our very own employees has been nominated as a Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents 2014 CSR Star!  Christine Rojcewicz, or Chrissy as she is known around the office and to customers, started at MassDrive in July of 2013, and came to us with no experience whatsoever.  Since then, she has quickly learned the ropes and become an invaluable part of our team!  She handles every phone call with professionalism and grace, and always remains calm no matter what situations arises.  We wanted to take a few minutes to chat with Chrissy and find out a little more about her and her job as a CSR rep.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite thing about my job is the customers. I love to help others, and being a customer service rep is all about helping others! I really enjoy working together with our customers to find the best solution to any problem, no matter how complicated. I love a challenge!

What’s the hardest thing about your job?

The hardest part of my job, particularly my role as a retention specialist, is explaining tough rate increases to customers. I place great importance in being certain that the insured truly understands their coverages and any reasons for premium changes. Often, the cause of the rate increase is ambiguous, but I always try my best to clarify the specific reasons for the increase, or decrease, not just quote a price without an explanation. Insurance rates are not black and white, and it is important to me that the insured is comfortable with the insurance they are receiving and the reasons for the cost.

What do you think it takes to be a good customer service rep?

To be a good customer service rep, one needs to have patience and  perseverance. This job is not easy, but it has the potential for fulfillment and forming great relationships. It takes a lot of patience and humility to remain calm and cooperate with a difficult customer, but when the experience is positive for the insured, it is positive for me as well! The feeling I get after finishing a particularly successful call is very rewarding.

What’s the key to dealing with an angry customer?

Dealing with angry or upset customers can be very difficult, but the key is to empathize. I try my best to put myself in the customer’s shoes and see the situation from his or her point of view. Often, when I do so, the reason for the customer’s frustration and anger becomes apparent, and I can better assist them.

What do you wish all of your customers knew?

I wish all my customers knew how difficult being an insurance customer service representative can be, and I wish they knew just how far a simple “thank you” really does go. My coworkers and I love nothing more than to share with each other when insureds are grateful and provide positive feedback. Often, a little appreciation can turn my whole day around!

In addition to answering phone calls, keeping up with paperwork, and so much more, Chrissy also implements our Renewal Readiness Program™, which monitors our customer’s policies that are about to renew, and will re-quote them if there is a significant increase in price.  She always goes above and beyond to make sure our customers have the most pleasant experience possible, so we’re wishing her the best of luck in this contest, no one deserves it more than she does!

Join Us In Supporting A Great Cause!

We are very excited to announce that we will be a Milestone Sponsor in this year’s Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) signature walk event!  “Walk Like MADD” is a non-competitive, family and pet friendly 5K Walk and also a MADD Dash, certified 5K Run which seek to raise awareness and funds for MADD.  This organization has a simple mission; they seek to stop drunk driving, support the victims of it, and prevent underage drinking.

Drunk driving not only risks the life of the driver and any passengers in their car, it also risks the lives of everyone else on the road.  The scary thing about that is that drunk driving and underage drinking are more common than you would think.  For example, did you know:

  •  If all 17 million people who admitted to driving drunk in the past year had their own state, it would be the fifth largest in the U.S.
  • On average, one in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime.
  • Every 90 seconds, a person is injured in a drunk driving crash.
  • Every day in America, 30 people die as a result of drunk driving crashes.
  • Teen alcohol use kills about 6,000 people each year, more than all illegal drugs combined.
  • An average drunk driver has driven drunk 87 times before a first arrest.
  • One in three 8th graders has tried alcohol.
  • Drunk driving remains the primary cause of deaths on our highway.

If these statistics surprised you as much as they surprised us, you’ll understand why Mothers Against Drunk Driving is such a worthy cause to support.  Victims of drunk driving are more common than you think, they could be your neighbor down the street, a friend’s parent, or perhaps someone in your own family or group of friends.

We at MassDrive are proud to sponsor MADD’s event this year because their mission of keeping families and communities safe is one that we support as well.  We want everyone to drive responsibly, and if you plan on drinking alcohol make sure that you have a designated driver to get you home safely.  That’s a mission we can all support right?  If you want to join this year’s event, there are a few ways you can do it.  You can either register to walk, donate to MADD’s team, or volunteer!

The walk will take place on Sunday, April 26th at Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield.  Registration begins at 10 AM and the opening ceremony will take place at 10:45 after a warm-up with Fitness Together.  Runners will take off at 11 AM followed by the walkers, and everyone is invited to join in on the fun and entertainment taking place after the 5K.

Cookie Wars: MassDrive Edition

massdrive crew

When it comes to competition, we take it very seriously over here at MassDrive, and this week we had a great idea to spice up the holiday season!  We were inspired by the holiday gifts our friends at Plymouth Rock Assurance sent us; three cookie cutters meant to represent their offerings, a gingerbread man (life insurance), a car (auto insurance), and a house (homeowners insurance).  After we got those, it didn’t take long for us to come up with the idea for a cookie decorating contest between the Boston and Phoenix offices!

Each team had to use the cutters provided, and the only other rule was to be as creative as possible!  Both offices are full of creative minds so we all knew competition would be stiff, but of course before we could begin decorating we needed the actual cookies.  Luckily we had two gracious volunteers from each office offer to bake some for everyone.

As we’ve said before, MassDrive is not your typical insurance company, and the cookie creations both offices came up with is further proof of that.  We have incredibly creative employees working in both offices, and a true team effort turned a simple cookie contest into two impressive masterpieces in their own right.  Each office combined the decorating talents of each employee to create a full on holiday scene.

To keep things fair, our California office and a few remote employees served as impartial judges.  Since both offices created amazing cookies, we know this may have been the toughest job of all.

Phoenix creative an amazing holiday village scene complete with insurance themed touches including “Renters Row”, “Auto Ave”, “Pet Protection Parkway”, and even a “NGI University” building!  The judges loves the variety of ingredients used as decorations, especially the pretzel windows which gave the cookies an appealing salty & sweet quality.  The judges also loved the creativity of incorporating insurance aspects into the holiday village.

phoenix village

In Boston, we came up with the idea to create a stop-animation video using our cookies to illustrate the dangers of distracted driving.  The whole office enjoyed creating it, we worked together to come up with a story board, figured out exactly how many cookies we would need for our video, and had our talented crew begin decorating.  We then used the Stop Motion App to create the video, which was awesome because it was free and very user-friendly.  What resulted was a distracted driving awareness video that impressed the judges, and even the competition in Phoenix!  The judges thought that the i-Phone cookie with an incoming message was the most creative cookie, and also thought that the cookies had the “perfect amount of icing”.

After both teams had finished, we had a company conference call to announce the results.  Both offices went into the call without ever seeing what the other team had created, and hearing all the different reactions from each other may have been the most entertaining part of the contest.  Even though both teams did an amazing job, the judges unanimously agreed that Boston was the winner.  What do you think?  Do you agree with the judges?
