We Love Fort Point!

We can’t stop raving about our neighbors here in the Fort Point section of Boston, there are so many great bakeries, restaurants, shops, and more, all in the same neighborhood as our office!  Our awesome sales agent, Jeff is here to tell us about a few of his favorite spots in the area:

The Club by George Forman III

Jeff loves this addition to the Fort Point Chanel. This new gym features over 130 classes, great trainers and fun workouts. The Club is located just a quick minute away from our office making it a popular place to work out for our team at MassDrive. This boxing gym created by George Forman offers unique training packages that are sure energize and excite you. If boxing isn’t your thing, The Club offers a variety of work outs from yoga, to spinning to circuit training.

Sweet Green

Located on Congress Street, this awesome lunch spot is worth the walk from our office.  They offer delicious, healthy, and filling meals.  From creative salads to bowls, Sweet Green offers only high quality, nutrient filled, organic ingredients.  If you’re feeling a little creative, make your own concoction choosing from a variety of ingredients including wild rice, spicy sunflower seeds to and baked felafel. Next time you’re there, try Jeff’s favorite signature dish, the Avocobbo salad.

Papagayo

This delicious Mexican restaurant really knows how to mix things up.  Jeff loves that they take great classics up a notch with dishes like Maine lobster guacamole and chili dusted calamari. Their extensive creative menu also includes a variety of street tacos, fajitas, and burritos. And lets not forget they mix up an awesome after work Margarita!

From the live music, to the Sinatra tribute band, this place provides an awesome old school atmosphere. With a menu full of great comfort food, and a fun 50s vibe, its no surprise Jeff loves this place.

Feast In The Wild – Head to the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford for a wild night of food and fun with the animals.  Feast on specials from local restaurants and sample brews while strolling through the zoo, enjoying animal encounters and additional entertainment.  Tickets to this event are $65 for zoo members and $75 for non-members.  This event is 21+ and will take place on Thursday, August 14th from 6PM – 10 PM.  Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the zoo’s mission, so you’ll be supporting a great cause as well as enjoying an exciting night out!

34th Annual Gloucester Waterfront Festival – Summer is a time to enjoy the sea, sunshine, delicious food, and the great outdoors with friends and family, and this is the perfect place to do it!  This festival will take place on August 16th and 17th at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester.  There will be live entertainment including Celtic, country, folk, and ragtime music, artisans and craftsmen displaying their work, and many different kinds of ethnic foods to try!  Other highlights include a pancake breakfast, lobster bake, and on Sunday there will be 75 antique autos on display courtesy of the North Shore Old Car Club!  This event is pet friendly and entry is free, although there is a fee for parking and of course for food.  Festival hours are from 9AM – 6PM each day so grab your family, friends, and enjoy!

Sails and Ales – Like beer? Like being on a boat taking a tour of beautiful Boston Harbor?  The real question is who wouldn’t like that?  This event brings both together, so join Classic Harbor Lines and Harpoon Brewery for a sunset cruise Thursdays in August.  This two hour tour still has tickets available for August 14th, 21st, and 28th and they cost $52 each.  Tickets do not include the beer tasting, to participate you must purchase “A Tasting” in the extras of the purchase page, but we’re sure it will be worth it.  Guests will be able to sample 5 of Harpoon’s Flagship and/or seasonal brews while being guided by a Harpoon Brewery Representative who will explain the brewing process and how Harpoon Brewery began.  There will be light food available on board but guests are more than welcome to bring their own picnics!  Don’t miss your chance to enjoy the beautiful summer weather while taking a cruise of historic Boston Harbor and sampling some brews made right here in the city!

February Events In The Bay State!

Need some entertainment to get you through these cold winter days?  Look no further!  Even though it’s been pretty gloomy out there are still tons of events going on in Boston and we’ve found some of the best ones.  If you like music, animals, sports, or eating (that should cover everyone) you won’t be disappointed!  Grab your loved ones and check out these events before cabin fever sets in!

Poe’s Kitchen Burrito Bowl III – Who doesn’t like a good burrito now and then?  This is your chance to get the BEST burrito in Boston as top chefs from the area compete at the Rattlesnake Bar and Grill in the 3rd annual Burrito Bowl!  Keeping in the Superbowl spirit, each chef will create an original burrito reflecting the city of their favorite NFL team. Each burrito will be served bowl-style instead of as a wrap, and will be judged by attendees as well as guest “referees”.  Chefs in the running are Tremont 647’s Andy Husbands; Poe’s Kitchen At The Rattlesnake’s Shawn Russell; Estelle’s Southern Cuisine’s Eric Gburski; The Tip Tap Room’s Brian Poe; Taranta’s Jose Duarte; Church’s Josh Rush; Boloco’s Jason Hutchinson; and the reigning Burrito Bowl champ, Brian Roche of Lolita.  The event is this Saturday, February 2nd and tickets are $20.

Boston Harbor Seal Watch – Yes you read that right, a seal, not whale watch in Boston Harbor!  The next seal watch is Saturday, February 2nd and departs from two locations; the Quincy Shipyard at 10:15 AM and from the Long Wharf in Boston at 11 AM.  The tours are an hour and a half and cost $20 per ticket for adults ages 13-64, $15 for children ages 4-12 and seniors (65+), and free for children under 3.   Harbor seals spend their time in Boston from late December until early March, they love the cold water!  They are extremely intelligent and spend their time hunting for fish and sunbathing on the rocks and now is your chance to see them in their natural habitat!  Sponsored by the Boston Harbor Alliance and Boston’s Best Cruises this harbor adventure won’t leave you disappointed.

The Beanpot Hockey Tournament – Every local knows that the first two Monday nights in February are the biggest nights in Boston hockey, the Beanpot tournament!  Get your tickets while you can and watch the Harvard, Boston College, Boston University, and Northeastern hockey teams compete in this tournament where the winner will have bragging rights until the next tournament!  This has been a staple event in the world of Boston sports since 1952 and encourages a little healthy competition between local colleges.  The first night of games begins on Monday, February 4th at 5 PM when Boston University and Northeastern square off, followed by Boston College vs. Harvard at 8 PM.  On Monday, February 11th there will be a consolation game at 4:30 PM before the championship game begins at 7:30!  Do you think Boston College will remain the champs or will someone else beat them for the title?

Cry Me A River (The Valentines Hangover Dance Party) – Even though his newest single was a little weak, everyone knows Justin Timberlake is a heavy hitter in the entertainment industry.  Although we can’t promise you JT himself, we can get you pretty close.  The one and only Justin Timberlake cover band, The Timberfakes are performing Friday, February 15th at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston!  Whether you’re recovering from Valentine’s day or just looking for a good time, you won’t want to miss this dance party celebration.  Tickets are $12 per person so get them before they sell out!

Don’t let this weather keep you from getting out of the house!  Grab your friends, family, or plan a date night and head out to one of these awesome events this month!
