Topsfield Fair – This event has already started, but not to worry, there’s still plenty of time to make your way to Topsfield and enjoy the fair!  It will run until October 13th and is guaranteed to be fun for the whole family!  This is the oldest agricultural fair in America, it has run since 1818 and since it’s beginnings it has grown into a New England tradition.  There will be live music from artists such as Kellie Pickler, Danielle Bradbery, as well as local artists.  Visitors can also enjoy monster truck shows, arts and crafts, rides, pumpkin weigh-offs, horse pulling, and so much more.  Oh, and did we forget to mention the delicious fair food that will be there?  Ticket prices vary depending on what day you attend but children under 8 with an adult are always free!

Wellfleet OysterFest – This event is perfect for all ages, and the fall is a great time to visit Cape Cod!  Spectators can take in the exciting shucking contest, live music from local bands, arts and crafts, a road race, interesting lectures, delicious food, and much more!  Learn about the history of the town’s shellfishing industry, try some tasty seafood, and enjoy the beautiful sights of the Cape!  The festival will be October 18th and 19th, from 10AM – 5 PM, tickets are available to purchase at the event with cash only, and cost $5 for a one day ticket, or $8 for a two day ticket.

5th Annual New England BBQFest – If you’re a fan of BBQ, (and lets face it, who isn’t?) then you won’t want to miss this event at Wachusett Mountain!  Some of the best BBQ vendors from the area will be on hand so there will be plenty of food to try.  In addition to the classic BBQ food items on hand, there will also be oysters on the half shell, claim chowder, chili, shrimp, an oyster shucking competition, a pig roast, and a beer tent!  Guests will also enjoy the Punkin Chunkin and Lumber Jack shows, as well as live music, craft fair, and Farmers’ Market!  Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 6-12, they can also be purchased in advance for a discounted price.

Pumpkins Aglow – Get in the Halloween spirit with this family-friendly event at Edaville, USA!  Stroll through the garden of endless jack-o-lanterns, dress in your favorite Halloween costume, take part in the Costume Parade, and even trick-or-treat at the rides in the park!  This event will take place October 10-12, 17-19, and 24-26.  Tickets are $20 for ages 2-59, $17 for ages 60+, and children under 2 are free.

Looking For The Best Ice Cream In The Bay State? Just Ask Our Agents!

Strawberry Ice Cream Cone

Who doesn’t love a nice scoop of ice cream on a hot summer day?  It’s a staple of the summer and the perfect snack after a day in the sun!  Here at MassDrive we are all big ice cream fans, so we asked our agents what their favorite ice cream stand is here in the Bay State and what flavor they would recommend!

The Juice Bar – Located in Nantucket, this stand has tons of flavors to choose from, ranging from traditional to their own original creations.  They even make their own waffle cones which you can smell as soon as you walk through the door!  Chrissy is the newest member of the MassDrive team and is working in the customer service department, she is huge fan of their peppermint flavor so if you’re in the area be sure to check it out!

Richardson’s Ice Cream – This stand has locations in both Middleton and Reading and is a favorite of two of our MassDrive team members!  Steve, the sales team supervisor highly recommends their chocolate chip cookie dough, and Christine, one of our awesome sales reps loves their pistachio!  The Middleton stand is their main location, and is also a full working dairy farm.  Kids will love watching the cows in the pasture and there’s also a mini-golf course just steps from the stand!  The Reading location is located in Jordan’s Furniture or you can find their ice cream at certain local, independent stands.

JJ’s Soft Serve – This stand is located in West Springfield and mainly serves soft serve although they also have milkshake options available.  This spot is a favorite of our sales rep, Teresa and she says she always used to come here as a child!  Her favorite flavor is their cookie dough but they have tons of options to choose from and even have some unique ice cream twist combos if you’re feeling adventurous!

Crescent Ridge – This dairy farm not only sells fresh, homemade ice cream, they also have fresh milk from their own cows and tons of other provisions on site!  Located in Sharon, this spot is a favorite of our sales rep, Jeff and he recommends either their cookie dough which comes loaded up with tons of dough, or their rainbow sherbet.  This stand also hosts a farmer’s market every Saturday from 10 AM – 2 PM so if you’re in the area stop by and pick up some groceries fresh from the farm!

The Dairy Barn – Located in Randolph, the Dairy Barn has a huge menu of both hard ice cream and soft serve, along with shakes and different sundae options.  Our sales rep, Shawn, loves their crunchosaurus ice cream, but in the fall he says he usually opts for pumpkin.  They have oldies playing which makes waiting in line a little less painful and have some unique artwork/graffiti on site as well.  It’s perfect if you’re looking for a quick ice cream while you’re out and about, but if you want to sit and relax there isn’t much seating here so be prepared to possibly eat in the car.

Twist & Shake – Our amazing customer service rep, Eleanor is a big fan of this ice cream stand, especially their pistachio flavor!  They have two locations, one in Revere right near the beach, and the other in Winthrop.   They have the usual soft serve and hard ice cream as well as frozen yogurt and Richie’s Slush.  There are so many options it might be tough for you to decide which flavor to get!

Which of these stands is your favorite?  Are there any that we didn’t mention that you think deserve a shout out?  Let us know in the comments!
