Furry Friend Friday With Recess!

Recess05

It’s that time of the week again, Furry Friend Friday!  Today’s interview was especially fun, that’s because we got to spend time with Recess!  No, we’re not talking about running around outside on the playground (although that would be fun), we’re talking about our furry friend!  Recess is his name, and cuteness is his game.  This handsome guy is a 1 year-old greyhound up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.

So Recess, how did you find yourself in the good old Bay State?

Well I made my way all the way up from West Virginia if you can believe it.  During my time down there I was a racing dog!  It’s nice to be retired though, now I’m just ready and waiting to find my perfect forever family.

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I love being around people!  If I’m being totally honest, I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you I’m very friendly.  I like to think of myself as a bit of a social butterfly and love to be petted.  I’m also pretty active since I’m still a pup, I love going for long walks and running around in the grass!

Do you have a favorite toy?

I love chasing tennis balls!  I have a lot of energy and I still like to show off my speed skills.  I could chase a tennis ball around all day if I had someone to throw it to me!

Is there anything that scares you?

Hmm,  the only thing that comes to mind is change.  I don’t really like change and get a bit anxious when I’m in a new situation.  I don’t like the uncertainty it brings, but once I get used to it I turn right back into my social self.

What do you think would be the perfect ,family for you?

Well I’d need to go to a family that would be patient with me.  I’m still a pup and need some help with training, it’s just basic things and I’m a very quick learner!  I’d also be great with kids, older ones would probably be best just because of my size.  I’d also love it if I went to a home that already had a dog!  I love other dogs and could use a confident friend to show me the ropes.

Recess, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, even though I’m only one, I’ve seen a lot in my racing days and in my travels around the country.  Furry friends can get hurt or sick more often than we would all like, and pet insurance seems like a smart thing to have so people don’t have to spend all of their money at the vet!

Recess is such a smart boy, and we’re hoping he finds his forever home very soon!  When it comes to pet insurance though, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step on the road to protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Dobson!

dobson

Have you ever seen a face this cute? Meet Dobson, an 8 year-old greyhound girl up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton!  She’s today’s special guest for Furry Friend Friday and is very excited for her moment in the spotlight.  This sweet girl has spent years as a racing dog and a breeder, so she’s ready to relax and be pampered by her forever family!

So Dobson, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well, I am getting a little older, and I’ve done a lot in my life so now I mainly like to relax and be around people.  I love being petted and cuddling with my people, but I still enjoy going out for walks every day.  Even though I’m getting on in my years, I still have a lot of life left and love to give!

Do you have a favorite toy?

I actually don’t play with toys too often, but I do have a blanket that I really love!  I like laying on it during the day, it’s so warm and comfy I feel snug as a bug in a rug when I curl up on it.

Is there anything that scares you?

I’d say loud noises tend to make me nervous some times.  We’ve been having a lot of thunder storms this summer, and the loud thunder can get to me.  I’m sure it won’t be as scary once I find a forever family that can cuddle with me when a storm is on its way though.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I’m really easy to get along with, just ask anyone here at the shelter!  If I could choose my perfect family though, I would choose to go with a family that loves to cuddle and relax but would still bring me for walks every day.  They wouldn’t have to be very long walks, just some time for me to get outside and sniff around while getting some fresh air.  I’m very mild-mannered and can be shy at first, but I know the right family will just fall in love with me.  I’m great with other dogs and would be fine with grade-school age kids as long as they were dog-savvy and didn’t pull on my ears or tail.  I’m an all around love bug and am ready to go to my forever home!

Dobson, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, all pets need to go to the vet for one thing or another throughout their life, so having pet insurance seems like a good way to make sure your pet can get the vet care they need without you having to max out your credit cards.

Dobson is as smart as she is cute!  Pet insurance is an affordable way to protect your pet like a member of the family, because pets are a part of the family after all!  Call one of our agents for a free pet insurance quote today and take the first step to protect your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Eagle!

Eagle

No, he can’t fly, but today’s Furry Friend Friday interviewee certainly is majestic!  Meet Eagle, a 5 year-old greyhound up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.  This handsome guy has been in the shelter for about 3 weeks now, and is ready to find his new best friend!

So Eagle, I hear that you came a long way to find your forever family, is that true?

Yes, you’re right!  I’m originally from West Virginia, I used to be a racing dog but that life just wasn’t for me.  I was lucky enough to hitch a ride up north and ended up in Hopkinton with the wonderful people at Greyhound Friends, now I just have to sit and wait for the perfect family!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well, I like to start my day with a nice breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day!  I get a nice helping of kibble, mixed with can food, rice, and a little bit of warm water, I like to call it the breakfast of champions!  After that I like to go for a walk, take a nap, run around a bit, play with my toys, maybe take another nap, and then hang out with my favorite people of course!

Do you have a favorite toy that you like to play with?

I love stuffed squeaky toys, they’re so much fun I love to chew on them and can even toss them up in the air!  It’s pretty impressive if I do say so myself.

Is there anything that scares you?

Well I like to think of myself as a tough guy, but I will admit that loud noises tend to make me nervous, like thunder, sirens, and things like that.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, I do have a medium activity level, so I’d say I’d like to go with a family that can bring me for walks and maybe even has a fenced in yard that I can run around in.  I’m also very social, I love other dogs so if you already have one I’m sure we would become best friends, I can’t say the same about cats though.  I’m great with kids, very friendly, and would be fine if you had to leave me to go to work.  I could really fit in anywhere!

Eagle, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, as pets, our humans  are the only family we have, so we like to think that you consider us to be part of the family as well.  Shouldn’t we be protected like the rest of the family?  Not to mention, it sounds like pet insurance can keep you from having to pay a huge vet bill if your pet were to get sick or have an accident, so why not invest in pet insurance?  You’ll be protecting your pet and your wallet!

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!  Eagle is a very smart boy, and he knows how important pet insurance can be when it comes to protecting your pet and your wallet.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step of protecting your furry friend against the unexpected!

Furry Friend Friday With Skul!

UNKNOWN_NAME4

Happy Furry Friend Friday!  Today we have a very special guest, a 7-year-old greyhound girl named Skul.  We know, kind of an intimidating name for such a sweet girl, but trust us when we say there’s nothing scary about her!  She’s currently up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton and would love for you to pay her a visit!

So Skul, I hear that you’re not originally from Massachusetts, is that right?

Yes!  In fact, I’m a mid-western girl, I came all the way from Kansas!  It’s very different out here, there are so many new things to try and see and so far I’m loving it!  I’m so excited to be here and hopefully find my forever family soon!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I love being outside, we have a fenced in yard that I can run around in, and I get  to play with the other dogs and toys here!  I’m very lucky, and after all that I love being around the people here, they’re so nice and love to pet me!

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

It’s hard to choose when there are so many options!  If I really have to choose though, I’d say my favorite types of toys are the squeaky, stuffed animal ones.  What dog doesn’t like those?

Is there anything that scares you?

I’d say I’m a pretty self-confident dog, there’s really not much that gets to me except for loud traffic noises.  You know, like horns, sirens, things like that.  Coming from Kansas, I’m not used to hearing those things so often, so sometimes they make me jump a little.

What do you think would  be the perfect family for you?

I really am a people lover, and I would be good with all ages and types of them!  I’m even great with other dogs, not sure about cats yet though.  My only request is to have a fenced-in yard so I can be free to run around as I please.  Even though I’m 7, I’m still a fairly active girl but not overwhelming.  I would just love to find a family that wants me as one of their own, I hope it happens soon because I’m great on walks and the best snuggler you’ll ever meet!

So Skul, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, pets can get hurt just like people can, and our doctor’s office can be just as expensive as yours!  Pet insurance seems like a smart way to make sure you don’t have to pay a giant vet bill if your pet were to ever unexpectedly get sick or hurt, and lets face it, are those things ever expected?  No, they’re not, but with pet insurance at least you can be prepared for them!

Skul’s right, if your pet gets sick or has an accident, you never see it coming, but with pet insurance you can be prepared for these things.  It’s a great way to make sure your furry friend can get exactly what they need without you having to worry how much it will cost.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote!

Furry Friend Friday With Jonah!

Jonah

We know you missed us last week, but today we’re back and sitting down to chat with Jonah!  This cute little boy is a 2 year-old hound mix up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton and is waiting to find his new best friend!

So Jonah, I heard that you’ve come a long way to find the perfect family, is that true?

You’re right!  I’m originally from Kentucky, I was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter, but they thought I would have a better chance of being adopted up in Massachusetts, so here I am!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day up in the Bay State?

Well I’ve only been here for a month, but I love it already!  One of my favorite things to do is to play outside with all of my friends here.  I’m great with other dogs and we have a whole acre here that’s fenced in so we can run and play all day long!

Do you have a favorite toy that you like to play with?

Hmm, that’s a tough one but I really love rawhide bones, so I guess that’s like a toy and a treat all in one!  Does it get any better than that?

Is there anything that makes you nervous?

I would say that loud traffic noises make me nervous, being from a rural area like Kentucky, I’m not really used to hearing loud noises like that all the time.  Plus us dogs have extra sensitive hearing, so car horns and sirens sound much louder to us than to you humans.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, I’d need to go to a family that could handle my activity level, I’m not hyper or anything, but I am still young and would say I have a medium activity level.  I’d love for my new family to bring me for walks and on different adventures!  I get along great with other dogs if you already have one, and I’m great with kids!  I love all kids but would probably do best in a home with children ages 10 and up, just because of my size and activity level.  I’m a great companion and very clean, and I have a really unique widow’s peak which I think makes me extra cute.

So Jonah, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, I’ve met a lot of furry friends during my travels across this country, and a lot of them needed vet care that came as a surprise to them and their families.  It was bad enough for them getting sick or hurt, but then their families had to pay huge bills!  It seems like pet insurance is a good way to make sure pet parent don’t get stuck with huge bills like that if their pets need to go to the vet.

Jonah may be young, but he’s seen a lot, and he’s right!  Vet bills can be extremely expensive, and if they’re unexpected that can really put a damper on your bank account.  Pet insurance is an easy way to ensure your pet gets the care they need without breaking the bank.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step in protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Leo!

leo 2

We’re back with another Furry Friend Friday interview and this one is extra special!  Leo is a three year-old boy that came all the way across the pond to find his forever home!  He’s up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.

So Leo, I hear that you came all the way across the pond to be here, is that correct?

Yes it is!  I’m originally from Ireland so I came a long ways to find a forever home.  Believe it or not there are a lot of us greyhounds over in Ireland, but we aren’t really seen as pets so we often get transported to the U.S. or even Italy for homes.  I was with a great group over there called Limerick Animal Welfare and they worked very hard to get me over here and give me the chance to find a wonderful new home, so I will never forget my Irish roots!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I’m a very social guy, so I love being around people.  Everyone at the shelter says I’m so outgoing and friendly, they love being around me as much as I love being around them!  I’m a very calm boy, I like to hang around and get a good nap in but I also like to play and run around every so often.  They say I’m the best of both worlds because I can be active if my family wants to play or go for a walk, but I’m just as happy to curl up at their feet and relax.

Do you have a favorite treat?

I’ll take anything I can get when it comes to food!  I LOVE to eat and I’ll be happy with whatever is offered, I’m not a finicky eater at all.

Is there anything that makes you nervous?

Well I don’t really like loud traffic noises, car horns, sirens, things like that.  I’m a mellow guy and those loud noises make me antsy.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

As long as there are no cats, I could go anywhere.  I’m not particularly fond of cats but I’d be great with other dogs whether they’re big or small.  I love all people too so I could go to a home with small children as long as they are kind to me.  My only request is to go to a family that will bring me somewhere I can run free every so often, as long as it’s fenced in of course.

Leo, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

You wouldn’t believe some of the things I’ve seen out in the world, it can be a dangerous place!  Unexpected illnesses, accidents, all kinds of things can happen that you aren’t ready for.  These things can be tough enough without wondering how you’re going to pay for them, so pet insurance seems like a good idea because it’s one less thing to worry about if you pet needs urgent vet care.

Leo is a very smart, and well traveled boy, he’s seen a lot in his short life and know how important it is to be prepared.  Pet insurance can make sure that you’re prepared for those situations you hope will never happen, but sometimes they do come up in life.  Call on of our agents today for a free quote, it’s the first step in protecting your furry friend from the unexpected!

Furry Friend Friday With Wolf!

wolf

We’re back with another Furry Friend Friday interview, and today we got to chat with Wolf!  No he’s not a real wolf, he’s actually a 4 year-old greyhound up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc. in Hopkinton.  This handsome boy has been in the shelter for a few weeks and would love for you to stop by and visit him!

So Wolf, I hear you’re not originally from Massachusetts, is that correct?

Yes, you’re very right!  I’m originally from Florida, it’s much warmer down there but I’m happy to be in Massachusetts and am ready to start my new life!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I’m a very laid back guy, I enjoy the simple things.  All I really need to have fun is a warm bed, one of my people petting me, and a treat or two of course!  My perfect day would consist of a long nap, a walk, and then cuddles for the rest of the day, I love being around people!

Do you have a favorite treat?

I’ll take anything I can get!  I’m a real foodie and love trying new things, so anything you have for me I’ll be more than happy to sample.

Is there anything that scares you?

I’m not really a fan of loud noises, like thunder or fireworks.  They make me a bit jumpy, but as long as I have someone to pet me and make me feel better I’ll be fine.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well since I love to be around people, I would enjoy going to a home where someone is around a lot.  If you work from home that would be perfect, I’ve been told I’m a very good computer helper!  I can get along with anyone, I’m a very nice guy and they say that greyhounds are the best of both worlds, meaning we can either be active or just lay around all day.  I’m definitely on the calmer side, but I still have a spring in my step and like a nice walk.  If you think I could be your new best friend stop by and say hi!

Wolf, why do you think pet insurance is a good think for all pet parents to consider?

Well, pets don’t plan on getting hurt or sick (Then again, who does?), but it still happens.  It seems like pet insurance is a good way to make sure you can get your pet the vet care they need if they unexpectedly get sick or have an accident.

We couldn’t have put it any better ourselves.  No one plans on getting sick or hurt, and pets should be covered for these situations just like the rest of your family is.  Pet insurance is an affordable investment that will ensure your pet gets proper vet care should they need it.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step in protecting your furry friend for life!

Furry Friend Friday With Transy

transy

Who’s ready to kick off their weekend with a Furry Friend Friday interview? Transy is!  This handsome older gentleman is a beagle mix and is ready to find a best friend to share his golden years with.  He’s about 7 or 8 years old and is up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.  How can you resist that face?  Stop by and pay Transy a visit if you think you two could be a match made in heaven.

So Transy, what’s your favorite thing to do?

Well I love to sleep!  Does that surprise you?  I’m an older gentleman so I need more sleep than pups do.  Did you know that some dogs need up to 13 hours of sleep a day?  I think I may fall into that category.

Do you like to go for walks?

Yes I love getting out and about!  Despite my age I still have a good amount of energy, when I’m awake, that is.  I can’t go too far, I prefer my walks to be short and sweet but I still love smelling the fresh air.

Do you have a favorite treat?

I enjoy your good old classic milk bones.  They can’t be beat if you ask me, that’s probably why they’ve been around for so long, I remember snacking on those when I was just a puppy!

Is there anything that scares you?

Nope, I’ve seen a good deal in my time and it takes a lot to rattle me.  I like to think of myself as a relaxed guy that goes with the flow.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I think I’m a pretty lovable dog, so I think I could really fit in anywhere!  Like I said, I go with the flow.  I probably would be best with an older couple that moves at my pace and is looking for a couch buddy.  I also get along with other dogs and am good with dog-savvy children.  I would probably even enjoy the company of a cat!

Transy, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well like I said, I’ve seen a lot in my time, including friends of mine who suffered some serious injuries, even while they were in their prime.  You never know what can happen with a pet whether they are young or old, so it’s probably a good idea to be prepared for anything.

We couldn’t agree with Transy more.  He is clearly a very smart boy and understands the value of being prepared to get your pet the best possible care should they need it.  We here at MassDrive want you to be prepared too, call one of our agents for a free pet insurance quote and begin the journey to protecting your furry friend and your wallet!

Furry Friend Friday With Wonder!

Wonder

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  Are you as excited for the long weekend as we are?  We know someone else who’s excited!  Meet Wonder, this cute girl is up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.  We can’t help but wonder why Wonder doesn’t have a home yet, she’s been at the shelter for about three months and is ready for her forever family!

So Wonder, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

Well, as an older gal I like to relax a lot.  I can spend a good amount of time snoozing around but once I get outside, I feel like a puppy again!  For an 8 year old, I’m still pretty fast, I was a racing dog after all.  I also love being cuddled by people, I’m very sweet (so I’ve been told) and love to be petted.

What was it like being a racing dog?

Well I was actually all the way in Kansas during that part of my life, and I didn’t love it.  I was mainly used for breeding and was a great mom to all of my puppies.  The staff at the shelter say I still have that motherly nature about me.  As sweet and gentle as I am, I don’t do well with small animals.  It’s not that I don’t like them, I just can’t resist chasing them, can you blame me?

Do you like to go for walks?

Oh I love being out and about!  As I said, I can sleep a lot but when I am out I am pretty active for my age, I like to stay fit and work on my girlish figure.

What about toys?

Toys are fun, my favorites are those squeaky ones, I can’t get enough!

Is there anything you’re afraid of?

Nothing comes to mind, I’ve seen a lot in my days and so it takes a lot to rattle me.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I’m a very sweet girl and could fit in anywhere, as long as there are no small animals!  The staff here also aren’t too sure how I would be around small kids, and I have to say I’m not either since I’ve never met too many of them!  I know I would be good with older kids in their teens and adults of course.  My age means I’m not too active but I still like to get out and about, so I guess you can say I’m moderately active, so a family that fits in line with that would be perfect!

Why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider for their furry friends?

Well as an older gal, you never know what might come up, and it’s always good to be prepared!  I know that when I finally find my forever home, I’ll love my owners like family, and I hope they would feel the same about me and protect me like any other member of their family!

Wonder hasn’t lost a step!  She’s a smart lady and looks pretty good for her age if you ask us!  She’s right when it comes to pet insurance, it will help you prepare for the unexpected and avoid a hefty vet bill should your furry friend get into an accident or get sick.  Call us for a free quote and take the first step in protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Cane!

 Cane

We’re here with another Furry Friend Friday interview to kick off your weekend!  Today we got to chat with Cane, a 4 year-old greyhound up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.  Cane is a mellow guy waiting to meet his forever family, and would love it if you would pay him a visit!

So Cane, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I love taking long walks, I’m not very high energy though, I don’t go too fast, I just mosey around and take my time.  I’m also very good on a leash, all of the staff here love taking me out!  After a walk, I love to curl up and take a nap or hang out with my people. I’m a simple guy and enjoy the little things.

Do you have a favorite treat?

I’m a classic milk bone kind of guy, nothing too fancy, the classic is perfect!

What about a favorite toy?

I like to play with toys when I’m outside, but I prefer to play with my friends.  I would love to go to a home that had another greyhound that I could be friends with!

Is there anything that scares you?

Well small children tend to make me nervous, they can play rough and sometimes climb on me and pull my ears, which can really hurt!  I would probably prefer to go to a home that doesn’t have any small children.

What do you think would be the perfect home for you?

Well besides no small children, I would love to go to a home where the people can be home with me a lot, I’m fine on my own but I prefer to have company around.  I would do well with a retired couple maybe or even a family with older children that can take me on walks.  I’m a loveable, easy going guy and could really fit in almost anywhere.

Why do you think pet insurance is a good investment for all pet parents to consider?

Well, humans have to go to the doctors just like pet have to go to the vet, and they have insurance so why shouldn’t pets?  We are like members of the family after all, and pet insurance seems like a good way to make sure you won’t break the bank on vet bills should anything unexpected happen.

Cane’s right, pets are like members of the family and they should be protected like it.  Having pet insurance ensures that you won’t have to drain your savings account to get your pet the health care that they need.  Call us today for a free quote, and take the first step in protecting your furry friends health.
