Furry Friend Friday With Barcelona!

Barcelona

Can you think of a better way to kick off a long weekend than by reading about an adorable furry friend? Neither can we!  Today we got to chat with Barcelona, an exotic girl who’s up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter.  This cute girl is a 5 month-old terrier mix who traveled a long way to find her forever family!

So Barcelona, I hear you’ve traveled a long way to be here, where are you originally from?

You’re right!  I’m actually from Puerto Rico, my name might make you think I’d be from Spain, but nope!  I just arrived here in the U.S. and I’ve only been in the shelter for a few days.  Everyone here is so nice but I’d really like to find a home of my own with a yard where I can run and play!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I really like to relax and snuggle!  Is there anything better than getting a nice belly rub at the end of the day?  I didn’t think so.  I also really like to play with toys, I have a lot to choose from at the shelter so I’m very lucky!  I’m not your typical puppy though, I tend to be pretty quiet and I’m not hyperactive at all.  I would love to go to a home where my new family would pet me all day long!

Is there anything that scares you?

Not at all, I’m a very brave girl and everyone here says I’ve adjusted to my new life quite nicely.  I’m so grateful to have a second chance and can’t wait to find my forever family!  When I was in Puerto Rico I didn’t have a family of my own or a warm bed to sleep in, and those days were scary.  Now that I’m here I’m just excited to start my new life!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I’m not picky at all,  I would be happy anywhere!  I love all people and am very gentle so I’d be great with kids,  having some human brothers and sisters to run around with would be awesome!  My new family would just need to be patient with me and bring me to some puppy training classes, I’m not fully trained yet so I need someone to work with me but I’m a very fast learner!

Barcelona, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Hmm, well pets get sick just like people do, and if people have insurance it only makes sense that pets would too!  From what I’ve heard the vet can be pretty expensive, I know I wouldn’t want to be stuck with a huge bill if my friend got sick, and pet insurance seems like a good way to avoid that.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!  Vet bills can add up quickly, and pet insurance is an affordable way to make sure your pet can get the health care they need if the situation arises.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and begin the process of protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Yara!

yara

We’re back with your weekly dose of cuteness!  Today’s Furry Friend Friday interview features Yara, a 7 month-old terrier mix up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter.  This little girl is ready to be your new best friend, stop by and pay her a visit!

So Yara, I heard that you came a very long way to find your forever family, is this true?

Yes, you’re right!  I came all the way from Puerto Rico to be here, and so far I’m loving it here!  If it’s this nice here at a shelter, I can’t even imagine how nice it will be once I find a home of my own.

So what will  be your favorite way to spend the day once you do find your forever family?

I love playing!  Whether it’s outside, inside with my toys, or with my favorite people, I just love to be on the move doing something fun.  I’m still just a puppy so I have a lot of energy to burn!  Once I do get tired out after some playing, I’d love to curl up next to my favorite humans and get pets and treats.  Who wouldn’t love a day like that?

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

I have so many options here at the shelter, it’s hard to choose!  Not a bad problem to have, am I right?  If I had to choose I would say the stuffed squeaky toys, I can’t get enough of those.

Is there anything that scares you?

Nope, not at all!  I’m a very brave little girl and in my short time I’ve already experienced a cross-country move!  I’m really good at cuddles though if you get scared, and I’m a great watch dog so if you’re scared I’m sure I can make you feel safe.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, since I am so high-energy, I would do best in a home where I can get a lot of exercise!  Also, as I am still a puppy, I still have a lot to learn!  I would need to go to a family that would have patience with me and bring me to a puppy training course so that I could work on my manners.  I also want to be the baby and get all of the attention, so I would do best in a home without small children and where I can be the only pet.

Yara, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, even as a young pup I’ve already had to go to the vet a few times!  Just for typical stuff, shots, getting spayed, things like that, but I saw a lot of my fellow canine friends there too and not all of them were as lucky.  Some pups get very sick or even have accidents where they get hurt, and the vet bills for that can really add up!  Pet insurance seems like a good way to make sure you can pay for any unexpected vet bills that may come up.

Furry Friend Friday With Louie!

louie 1

It’s the first Furry Friend Friday interview of spring!  Are you as excited as we are the spring is finally here?  Louie is very excited!  He’s a 1 year-old Beabull up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter in Sterling.  What’s a Beabull you ask?  It’s a beagle and bulldog mix, which is pretty rare if you ask us.  If you think Louie could be your new best friend stop by and pay him a visit!

So Louie, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I’m still a puppy so I LOVE to play!  I’m a big boy though, I weigh 70 pounds but I’m a gentle giant.  I love people, but since I’m so big I would need to be with people that know how to handle a big, energetic pup like me.  One of my favorite things to do is to go outside and run, I can go pretty fast but I get tuckered out pretty easily.  Once I start running I don’t last too long after and then I’m ready for a nap.

Do you have a favorite toy?

I love all toys!  I’m very gentle with my toys though, I don’t rip them apart or anything.  I also have a blankie that I love to sleep with.

Is there anything that scares you?

No, I’m really just a goofball at heart and am always happy.  I don’t scare too easy at all so I think I would make a great watch dog!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well like I said I’m a big boy and sometimes I forget my own strength, so I would need to go to an experienced dog owner.  Another thing is that I would probably need some leash training, so a family that would be patient and maybe bring me to a training class would be ideal.  I’m also very good with other dogs as long as they’re the same size as me and love to play.  I probably wouldn’t be good with small children either, not because I don’t like them, I just wouldn’t want to accidentally knock them down.

Louie, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well I’m still young, but I’ve already been to the vet a few times in my short life, for check-ups, shots, and things like that.  I’m guessing that as the years go on I’ll have to keep going to the vet and at some point may even get sick or have an accident of some kind where I would need vet care, as will all pets.

Louie is right, most pets will need to go to the vet at some point for either an injury or sickness, and having pet insurance is a good way to be prepared for any unexpected health costs for your furry friend.  Call one of our agents today for a free quote and take the first step to protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Alan!

Alan

Who’s ready for a Furry Friend Friday interview? Alan is! This cute little guy is a dachshund mix and is up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter in Sterling and is ready to find a family!  He’s still a puppy and is only about 5 months old, so could use some puppy training to make sure he’s on his best behavior.  If that’s something you can do and if this looks like the face of your new best friend, pay him a visit!

So Alan, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I’m a pretty simple guy, I like belly rubs, running around outside, getting attention, playing fetch, just the usual puppy stuff.  I’m a very friendly guy but can be shy sometimes, but if you give me a belly rub I’ll love you forever!

Do you have a favorite toy?

Well I love to chase things, frisbees, balls, things like that.  Even though I’m on the small side I still love to run around and am pretty fast!

Now I hear you are not originally from Massachusetts, is that correct?

Yes you’re right I’m not a native to this state, I’m originally from Puerto Rico!  It was much warmer there, but so far I’m loving Massachusetts!  All of the people here at the shelter are so nice and told me I’d find the right home in no time!

Is there anything that scares you?

Sometimes other dogs do, I don’t usually get along with them, I’m a pretty feisty guy and am what I guess you would call the alpha male so I don’t like anyone sharing my toys or attention!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, for starters I would like to be the only dog, I want all of your attention for myself!  I would also need to go to a family that was willing to be patient with me and bring me to training, I’m still young and have some skills I need to master.  I could really go with anyone, I would be great with kids and am a true love bug.

And why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well you never know when an accident can happen, when it comes to puppies like me or even older and wiser dogs, accidents are accidents and its best to be prepared for them if you ask me.

Alan is already such a smarty at such a young age!  We’re sure he’ll pass any puppy training course with flying colors!  When it comes to being prepared for accidents, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves!  Call one of our agents for a free pet insurance quote today and get your furry friend the protection they deserve!
