Hilltown Brewfest – Can you think of a better way to close out summer than by enjoying an ice cold brew on a beautiful day? No? Then you won’t want to miss the Hilltown Brewfest on Saturday, September 6th in New Salem!  Not only is it sure to be a great time, it’s for a great cause as all proceeds will benefit local fire departments.  Relax under the big tents while you sip on different brews of beer, wine, and cider from local brewers and listen to live music from three different bands!  There will also be food available for purchase, free popcorn and the commemorative tasting glass given to guests is yours to keep!  The Brewfest will be from 12 noon until 5 PM and is a 21+ and pet-free event.

The Big E – The largest fair in the northeast is back!  The Big E will be returning to West Springfield from September 12th – 28th, and is guaranteed to be fun for all ages.  Get your fried Oreo and Craz-E burger fix while enjoying live music, circus performers, a daily parade, museums, animals, competitive exhibits, crafts, rides, shopping, and much more!  There will be top performers in attendance including Emblem3, Darius Rucker, ZZ Top, Eddie Money, Little Big Town, and many more!  Concert tickets are not included with admission to the fair so those tickets will need to be purchased separately, but if you purchase concert tickets in advance, it will include your admission to the fair.  This New England tradition only happens once a year and you won’t want to miss it!

iFest Boston – The newest festival to come to Boston is celebrating everything Irish!  From food, sports, culture, and entertainment, this lively event is sure to be fun for all ages!  You can even join a workshop to trace your Irish roots!  There will be tons of live music, delicious food, literary exhibits, enchanting performances, an Irish sports bar, and or course plenty of drinks to go around!  This family-friendly  festival will be from September 26th – 28th at the Seaport World Trade Center on South Boston’s Waterfront.  Whether you’re Irish or not, you’re sure to enjoy the exciting atmosphere and merriment brought on by this new festival!

King Richard’s Faire – How often do you get the chance to step back in time?  That’s exactly what you can do at King Richard’s Faire!  Chow down on a turkey leg while you watch knights joust on horseback, jugglers, acrobats, fire eaters, puppeteers, and many other talented performers!  There will also be games, rides, artisans from around the world, exotic animals, and much more to captivate guests of the faire.  Don’t forget to grab a beer from your local bar wench while you’re there!  The faire is located on an 80 acre wooded site in Carver and will be going on from August 30th – October 19th so there’s plenty of time to visit.

So many events, so little time!  Make sure you get your tickets to these exciting happenings and enjoy what’s left of the warm weather before the chill of fall returns!

Looking For The Best Ice Cream In The Bay State? Just Ask Our Agents!

Strawberry Ice Cream Cone

Who doesn’t love a nice scoop of ice cream on a hot summer day?  It’s a staple of the summer and the perfect snack after a day in the sun!  Here at MassDrive we are all big ice cream fans, so we asked our agents what their favorite ice cream stand is here in the Bay State and what flavor they would recommend!

The Juice Bar – Located in Nantucket, this stand has tons of flavors to choose from, ranging from traditional to their own original creations.  They even make their own waffle cones which you can smell as soon as you walk through the door!  Chrissy is the newest member of the MassDrive team and is working in the customer service department, she is huge fan of their peppermint flavor so if you’re in the area be sure to check it out!

Richardson’s Ice Cream – This stand has locations in both Middleton and Reading and is a favorite of two of our MassDrive team members!  Steve, the sales team supervisor highly recommends their chocolate chip cookie dough, and Christine, one of our awesome sales reps loves their pistachio!  The Middleton stand is their main location, and is also a full working dairy farm.  Kids will love watching the cows in the pasture and there’s also a mini-golf course just steps from the stand!  The Reading location is located in Jordan’s Furniture or you can find their ice cream at certain local, independent stands.

JJ’s Soft Serve – This stand is located in West Springfield and mainly serves soft serve although they also have milkshake options available.  This spot is a favorite of our sales rep, Teresa and she says she always used to come here as a child!  Her favorite flavor is their cookie dough but they have tons of options to choose from and even have some unique ice cream twist combos if you’re feeling adventurous!

Crescent Ridge – This dairy farm not only sells fresh, homemade ice cream, they also have fresh milk from their own cows and tons of other provisions on site!  Located in Sharon, this spot is a favorite of our sales rep, Jeff and he recommends either their cookie dough which comes loaded up with tons of dough, or their rainbow sherbet.  This stand also hosts a farmer’s market every Saturday from 10 AM – 2 PM so if you’re in the area stop by and pick up some groceries fresh from the farm!

The Dairy Barn – Located in Randolph, the Dairy Barn has a huge menu of both hard ice cream and soft serve, along with shakes and different sundae options.  Our sales rep, Shawn, loves their crunchosaurus ice cream, but in the fall he says he usually opts for pumpkin.  They have oldies playing which makes waiting in line a little less painful and have some unique artwork/graffiti on site as well.  It’s perfect if you’re looking for a quick ice cream while you’re out and about, but if you want to sit and relax there isn’t much seating here so be prepared to possibly eat in the car.

Twist & Shake – Our amazing customer service rep, Eleanor is a big fan of this ice cream stand, especially their pistachio flavor!  They have two locations, one in Revere right near the beach, and the other in Winthrop.   They have the usual soft serve and hard ice cream as well as frozen yogurt and Richie’s Slush.  There are so many options it might be tough for you to decide which flavor to get!

Which of these stands is your favorite?  Are there any that we didn’t mention that you think deserve a shout out?  Let us know in the comments!
