Are you as excited for the holiday season as we are? Everyone seems to be excited and there are tons of events going on this month to celebrate.  Whether you’re looking for something to do with family, friends, or even co-workers, there’s an event going on for everyone this December!  Be sure to check some of these out and enjoy the season with those you love!

Christmas Festival of Lights in Carver – If you’re looking for the perfect family event, look no further.  The Christmas Festival of Lights in Carver is a holiday tradition and kicked off their season on November 22nd at Edaville USA and will be there until January 1st.  Stop by and go for a ride on the Polar Express and enjoy the thousands of sparkling lights all around the park.  Kids can get their picture with Santa, go on the many rides in the park, or enjoy a treat from the various food vendors located around the park.  Hours for this event are from 4 – 9 PM on weekdays and from 2 – 9 PM on weekends, there’s still plenty of time to stop by with the whole family so don’t miss out!

Boston Common Tree Lighting – This is a can’t miss event for anyone that loves the holiday season!  Don’t miss the annual Boston Common Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 5th from 6 – 8 PM, even if you can’t be there in person, you can catch it airing live on WCVB TV.  There will be a figure skating show on Frog Pond presented by The Skating Club of Boston at 5 PM so if you’re there early be sure to check it out!  Entertainment includes Joey McIntyre of New Kids on the Block, “American Idol” Season 11 finalist, Erica Van Pelt, Blue Man Group, the Boston Ballet, and much more.  This is the 42nd year the tree has been donated by Nova Scotia and Mayor Thomas Menino and the Honourable Andrew Younger, Minister with the Government of Nova Scotia will be on hand with Santa Claus and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to flip the switch and turn the tree on right at 8 PM!  After the tree is lit there will be a pyrotechnics display to light up the Boston skyline so make sure you mark you calendars for this fun event!

40th Annual Nantucket Christmas Stroll Weekend – The holiday season in Nantucket is like taking a step back in time, stroll down their cobblestone streets, listen to Christmas Carols being played by church bells in the distance, and enjoy the smell of the salt air.  Their annual Christmas Stroll weekend is from December 6th – 8th and you can enjoy their popular Christmas House Tour on Friday evening, take in the holiday atmosphere, and watch Santa Claus arrive on the island via Coastguard Vessel on Saturday afternoon before he parades up Main St to greet the many children waiting to see him.  There will be tons of entertainment, carolers in period costume, and even their first ever costume contest to go along with their theme of a “Victorian Christmas”.  If you plan on attending, stop by the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce on Main St for a full program listing the times and locations of all activities throughout the weekend!

Ugly Sweater Midday Cruise – If you’re in the Boston area on Thursday, December 12th and can sneak out of work a bit early for this event, we’d highly recommend doing so.  After all who doesn’t love an ugly sweater party?  Break out your best for this midday cruise from 3 – 5 PM and prepare to celebrate the holidays in style.  There will be music, dancing, a light lunch menu, and of course prizes for the best ugly sweater on board.  This cruise is aboard the Spirit of Boston and costs $26.90 per person and all guests ages 21 and over (with a valid ID) will receive a complimentary glass of sangria during boarding.

Which of these events do you plan on attending this holiday season?  Do you know of a fun event that we haven’t mentioned?  Be sure to let us know!
