With the holiday season starting, there are a ton of festive activities happening around Massachusetts this month.  From festivals to parades to tree lighting ceremonies, check out MassDrive’s favorite activities and events happening in November!

For the Love of Beer Festival
November 7th
Boston

Boston’s very own Sam Adams Brewery will host For the Love of Beer Festival at the Greenway in Boston. Featuring over 50 different beers, food trucks, and a slew of tasty snacks to munch on, it will definitely be a delicious event! Admission to the event includes all your samples, and souvenir sampling cup. For the inner child in you, enjoy the inflatable hop slide, interactive games and giveaways!

Boston Comedy Festival
November 6th – 14th

Need a good laugh?? You’re in luck. The Boston Comedy Festival will take place for one week throughout Boston! With around 100 comedians from around the world, there will a lot to laugh about. With big names such as Andy Kindler from Tosh.0 and America’s Got Talent Wendy Liebman, it’s an event you don’t want to miss. Blink! A Light & Sound Extravaganza- Holiday lights
November 21st – January 3rd, 2016

This ultimate tree light lighting ceremony will be back in Fanuiel Hall for the 4th year in a row. With over 350,000 LED lights, you don’t want to miss this illuminating event! Highlighting the Boston skyline, this beautiful event will warm your hearts as the lights dance along to holiday music. Opening night will be the first tree lighting ceremony of the season, with a Christmas tree even larger than the one at Rockefeller Center! If you can’t make the opening night, don’t worry you can watch every inch of Faniel Hall lit up by this event every night throughout the holiday season.

Plymouth Thanksgiving
November 20th – 22nd
Plymouth

Plymouth Massachusetts will host their 20th annual Thanksgiving celebrations! With a parade, a food festival, craft village and so much more, this event has so much to offer. Happening along the waterfront, Pilgrims tour guides will begin the event with stories from the founders of America’s Hometown. Then enjoy a free Veterans Memorial Concert in honor of all those who have served in our Armed Forces. The event will also feature Native American’s, soldiers, and pioneers bringing to life the history of Thanksgiving.

Jingle Bell Run/Walk
November 22nd
Newton

This festive 5K is great way to get into the holiday spirit by helping others! Raising money for Arthritis, the Jingle Bell Walk/ Run is a spirited way to help those in need. Everyone dresses up in holiday themed costumes with jingle bells tied to their shoelaces to kick of the holiday season together. Pre-event registration is $35 and $15 for children 12 and under, and event-day registration is $40. Get your Santa hat, reindeer antlers, and running shoes ready and sign up today!

Are you as excited for the holiday season as we are? Everyone seems to be excited and there are tons of events going on this month to celebrate.  Whether you’re looking for something to do with family, friends, or even co-workers, there’s an event going on for everyone this December!  Be sure to check some of these out and enjoy the season with those you love!

Christmas Festival of Lights in Carver – If you’re looking for the perfect family event, look no further.  The Christmas Festival of Lights in Carver is a holiday tradition and kicked off their season on November 22nd at Edaville USA and will be there until January 1st.  Stop by and go for a ride on the Polar Express and enjoy the thousands of sparkling lights all around the park.  Kids can get their picture with Santa, go on the many rides in the park, or enjoy a treat from the various food vendors located around the park.  Hours for this event are from 4 – 9 PM on weekdays and from 2 – 9 PM on weekends, there’s still plenty of time to stop by with the whole family so don’t miss out!

Boston Common Tree Lighting – This is a can’t miss event for anyone that loves the holiday season!  Don’t miss the annual Boston Common Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 5th from 6 – 8 PM, even if you can’t be there in person, you can catch it airing live on WCVB TV.  There will be a figure skating show on Frog Pond presented by The Skating Club of Boston at 5 PM so if you’re there early be sure to check it out!  Entertainment includes Joey McIntyre of New Kids on the Block, “American Idol” Season 11 finalist, Erica Van Pelt, Blue Man Group, the Boston Ballet, and much more.  This is the 42nd year the tree has been donated by Nova Scotia and Mayor Thomas Menino and the Honourable Andrew Younger, Minister with the Government of Nova Scotia will be on hand with Santa Claus and members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to flip the switch and turn the tree on right at 8 PM!  After the tree is lit there will be a pyrotechnics display to light up the Boston skyline so make sure you mark you calendars for this fun event!

40th Annual Nantucket Christmas Stroll Weekend – The holiday season in Nantucket is like taking a step back in time, stroll down their cobblestone streets, listen to Christmas Carols being played by church bells in the distance, and enjoy the smell of the salt air.  Their annual Christmas Stroll weekend is from December 6th – 8th and you can enjoy their popular Christmas House Tour on Friday evening, take in the holiday atmosphere, and watch Santa Claus arrive on the island via Coastguard Vessel on Saturday afternoon before he parades up Main St to greet the many children waiting to see him.  There will be tons of entertainment, carolers in period costume, and even their first ever costume contest to go along with their theme of a “Victorian Christmas”.  If you plan on attending, stop by the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce on Main St for a full program listing the times and locations of all activities throughout the weekend!

Ugly Sweater Midday Cruise – If you’re in the Boston area on Thursday, December 12th and can sneak out of work a bit early for this event, we’d highly recommend doing so.  After all who doesn’t love an ugly sweater party?  Break out your best for this midday cruise from 3 – 5 PM and prepare to celebrate the holidays in style.  There will be music, dancing, a light lunch menu, and of course prizes for the best ugly sweater on board.  This cruise is aboard the Spirit of Boston and costs $26.90 per person and all guests ages 21 and over (with a valid ID) will receive a complimentary glass of sangria during boarding.
