The summer season is about to begin and there are tons of events going on across the Bay State! With so many fun things to do, it’s hard to narrow it down to a few! We did it though, and these events sound like some of the best places to be this June!
Cambridge River Festival – This FREE one day festival on the banks of the Cambridge River celebrates anything and everything to do with the arts. This event is extremely popular, and typically attracts over 200,000 people! It is being held on Saturday, June 1st from 12 noon – 6 PM, the severe weather rain date is June 2nd. There will be stages filled with performers including jazz, folk, and roots music, poetry, theater performances, and interactive displays as well! There will be family art-making activities, demonstrations, arts and crafts, and a wide variety of food! If you’re a lover of art, food, dancing, the outdoors, and Boston, this event is not to be missed!
Mass Audubon Native Plant Sale and Open House – Head to Plymouth this Sunday, June 2nd for this family friendly event! The plant sale and open house will be at the Mass Audubon North River Wildlife Sanctuary from 10 AM – 3 PM and there will be plenty of tips, tricks, and items for sale that will help you transform your yard for summer! Learn how to attract birds and butterflies to your garden, take guided tours of their bird, rain, and butterfly gardens, and ask gardening experts any questions you may have. There will also be children’s activities planned and don’t forget to stop by the gift shop and pick out a bird house!
Boston Dragon Boat Festival – This event is sure to be a fun time for every member of your family, and it’s a fun way to experience and learn about the Chinese culture. Dragon Boat racing is an old Chinese tradition, and from June 8-9 you can watch 30-40 teams compete in this race that runs along the Charles River through Cambridge and Boston. Enjoy a day in the sun at this event, there will be various types of Asian food, live performances, and even arts and crafts that represent Chinese culture. Don’t miss out on this exciting festival that is perfect for all ages!
Provincetown Film Festival – Who doesn’t love a good movie? This month you’ll have five days in a row to check out new and exciting films making their debut at this festival. This 5 day celebration begins on Wednesday, June 19th and ends on Sunday, June 23rd in historic Provincetown. There are special events going on each day including an opening night party, night at the drive-in, and poolside chat! Ticket prices vary based on what type you purchase, and you can either get tickets to an individual event, or various types of passes to multiple events. This is the perfect way to celebrate summer in this fun, unique town by the sea!
