Massachusetts Events This Month!

We may be in the middle of winter, but that’s no excuse to hibernate!  There are tons of fun events going on despite the cold, so don’t be afraid to get out and about this month and take advantage of them!

Ski Ward 75th Anniversary Party – Join Ski Ward Ski Area for their 75th Anniversary Party on Saturday, February 1st.  There will be a complimentary BBQ for season pass holders, which will also be open to the public.  There will also be tons of fun activities, an appearance by the L.L. Bean Bootmobile, appetizer specials at the Slopeside Bar & Grill, beer & wine tastings, live music, a night parade, and fireworks.  The whole family will enjoy this event so don’t miss out!

Beanpot Hockey Tournament – This is one of the biggest events going on in Boston this month.  This hockey tournament takes place the first two Monday nights in February, the 3rd and the 10th at the TD Garden.  Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, and Northeastern will go head to head to compete for the coveted Beanpot trophy and bragging rights for the rest of the year.  The first game is on Monday, February 3rd at 5 PM where Northeastern will take on Harvard and the two will compete to advance to the next round.  The same evening at 8 PM, Boston College and Boston University will play each other.  On Monday, February 10th at 4:30 PM there will be a Consolation Game followed by a Championship game at 7:30 PM. Ticket prices vary but make sure you get yours before it’s too late!

Holyoke Winter Carnival – This 10 day long celebration of winter themed activities begins on February 7th and brings together a variety of groups from the community.  This year the Carnival will have two themed weekends.  The first, from February 7th-9th will focus on recreation and sport to go along with the start of the Winter Olympics.  There will be hockey matches, a curling demonstration, an outdoor walk, polar bear swim, and much more.  There will also be plenty of food, live music, family movie night, dog show, and even a wine tasting for those 21 and over. The second weekend, February 13th – 16th will focus on Holyoke arts and entertainment with a night parade, chili cook-off, cake decorating, quilt show, free community pancake breakfast, and much more.  This family friendly event is the perfect reason to get everyone out of the house and trying something different.

New England Music Awards – Who doesn’t love a good toe-tapping tune?  Now’s your chance to see some of the best musicians in New England perform live!  Get tickets to the New England Music Awards taking place on Saturday, February 22nd at 7PM at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell.  The event will be hosted by comedian Steve Sweeney and also happens to coincide with the Lowell Winterfest taking place the same weekend!  There will be tons of events going on during the day for families and after the concert those that are 21+ should stop by the Polar Party inside Club Celsius downtown for drinks and more live music.

Bundle up and get out and about with family and friends this winter, there are too many fun events going on to miss out!

January Events In Massachusetts!

Ready to kick off the New Year with friends and family?  Then check out these fun events going on in Massachusetts this month!  There’s something for everyone, whether you enjoy sports, a good meal, or cars, you’ll definitely find something fun to do this month.

US Figure Skating Championships – This event is going on as we speak! Grab the whole family and head to Boston for the US Figure Skating Championships from January 5-12th.  The last time this event was in town was in 2001, setting a then-record for attendance, so get your tickets while you can!  Ice skating is one of the most popular winter sports, and now’s you chance to see some of the country’s best on their road to winning the gold at the Olympics.  Events and times vary by day, but discounted parking is available for all attendees.  This event takes place at the TD Garden and is sure to be fun for the whole family, you definitely don’t want to miss out!

Fireplace Feast – Take a step back in time this weekend and head to the Salem Cross Inn in West Brookfield for a homemade feast!  Kick back by the fire or participate in making the meal if you wish.  There will be prime rib roasting over the fireplace, chowder cooking in an antique cauldron, butternut squash, fresh spinach pie, and homemade muffins and rolls.  After dinner, help peel an apple or two for the apple pie that will be freshly made for dessert.  After dinner, take a horse drawn sleigh or wagon ride through the country side and then warm up with some apple cider or something a bit stronger for those over 21.  This event is a fun escape for the whole family, and takes place this Saturday, January 11th at 5:30 PM.  Tickets are $57 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under.

WWE Smackdown TV – Come see your favorite WWE Superstars in action at the newly renovated DCU Center in Worcester on Tuesday, January 14th at 7 PM.  Stars including Daniel Bryan, The Big Show, The Rhodes Brothers, Damien Sandow, and many more will be there, so if you’re a fan you definitely won’t want to miss this.  Ticket prices vary but are as low as $16!

2014 Worcester Auto Show – Have a car buff in your family?  Then you definitely don’t want to miss this event!  This year’s show has more brands than ever before and you can look, touch, and experience each car and decide which is your favorite.  Factory reps and dealers will also be on site to answer any and all questions you may have.  Guys will also love the motorcycles, scooters, auto electronics, and many more products on display.  This event will take place at the DCU Center in Worcester from Friday, January 24th – Sunday, January 26th.  Admission is $6 for adults and the hours for Friday are 4PM – 8PM, Saturday, 10AM – 7 PM, and Sunday, 11 AM – 5 PM.

Head In To Boston For These Events In March!

Can you feel it in the air?  We’re getting closer and closer to spring!  What more reason do you need to celebrate than that?  In honor of the upcoming change of seasons we’ve found the best events going on in the Bay State this March.  Grab your friends, family, or significant other and head to one of these events this month! Celebrate spring, St. Patrick’s day or just head out for a night on the town, either way, these events are guaranteed to provide lots of laughs and good times!

Pics In The Parks: Photography Workshop – Head over to the tennis courts in Porzio Park, East Boston this Sunday, March 3rd for an informal photography workshop hosted by the Boston Parks And Recreation Department.  Participants will be taught various techniques and instructors will assign a theme to focus on each week.  All ages and skill levels are welcome at this free event!  The workshop is from 11 AM – 12 PM, contact lauren.patrick@cityofboston.gov to register!

2013 National Golf Expo – Even though it’s not golf season yet, all of you golfers in the area can get an early fix.  The 2013 National Golf Expo is heading to Boston March 1-3 so stop by and enjoy a day of anything and everything golf! There will be exhibits, displays, interactive features, and not to mention the nation’s largest driving range and demonstration stage.  Head over to the Seaport World Trade Center for this event and pick up some tips to help your golf game and check out some of the latest equipment there is to offer.  There will be great deals on merchandise and you may even stumble upon a few unique items that are typically not sold in local pro shops.  Tickets are $12 for adults and can be bought at the door or online in advance, children 12 and under are free, and seniors (65+) tickets are $10 but must be bought at the door since an ID is required to receive the senior ticket price.  This event will be going on all weekend so if you’re a golfer or a fan of the sport don’t miss this!

“Clifford the Big Red Dog LIVE” – Help Clifford celebrate his 50th birthday this year by getting tickets to see his show! Clifford will be performing at the Wilbur Theater in Boston on Saturday, March 9th at 11:30 AM and then again at 3 PM.  Take a trip to Birdwell Island where Clifford, Emily Elizabeth, and their friends will learn about sharing, respect, working together, helping others, being kind and much more.  Parents, this is a great event for your little ones!  Children will love learning these important life lessons through song, dance, and one of the most beloved dogs of all time.  Tickets range from $17-$39 and are available through Ticketmaster.

Dropkick Murphys Concert – If you’re from the Boston area, you’ve definitely heard of this Irish punk rock band.  Formed in Quincy, MA in 1996, the Dropkick Murphys have been headlining events across the country for years now and are well known for hits such as “Tessie” and “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”.  Now you can see them perform these hits and more LIVE on Friday, March 15th at the TD Garden.  The show starts at 7:30 PM so get your tickets before they sell out! There’s no better way to celebrate St. Patty’s day than by enjoying a pint and listening to some not so traditional Irish music!

There are events for everyone to enjoy in Boston!  Whether you’re young, old, or somewhere in between, these events are sure to please every member of your family!
