Furry Friend Friday With Arlo!

Arlo

What’s the best way to start off the weekend? With a Furry Friend Friday interview of course!  We’re back with your weekly dose of cuteness, and today the furry friend we got to speak with is Arlo!  He’s a feisty, 6 month-old terrier mix up for adoption at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem and is patiently waiting for his forever family.

So Arlo, how does a handsome guy like you find himself in a shelter?

Well believe it or not, someone left me tied to a pole!  Can you believe someone would just leave me like that?  Luckily I was found by some nice people and brought to the shelter as a stray.  I was never claimed so now I’m ready to find my new best friend!

So what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Running, running, and more running!  I may be small, but these little legs can move!  I’m still a puppy so I have a ton of energy, and I’m very curious so I love to investigate my surroundings.  I also love playing with toys, although I don’t really have a favorite one.

Is there anything that scares you?

Nope, I’m very outgoing and can’t  think of anything that scares me.  I’m kind of known as a tough guy around the shelter, they say I can be fresh but I’m not mean at all, I’ve never bitten anyone I just get mouthy when I want some attention.  I think I’m the boss and want all of your attention for myself!

Is there anything that makes you extra unique?

Even though I’m a terrier, I have very soft fur and my friends at the shelter say I can look like all different kinds of dog breeds depending on my haircut!  I used to have a cut that made me look like a schnauzer, but I think this look is much more “me”.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well first off, I’d say no young kids.  Like I said, some consider me to be fresh, and I also love attention so I don’t want any kids taking that away from me!  I don’t like being bossed around, so I would also need a dog savvy owner that would know how to discipline me.  I’d also love to be with a family that was as active as me, I have so much energy and would love to burn it off at the beach or on a hike!

Arlo, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Pets get sick just like people do, I’ve seen it with my own two eyes!  It seems like it would just make sense to have insurance to protect your pet so that if they get hurt or sick they can get the care they need without breaking the bank.

Arlo may be young, but he’s a fast learner!  He knows the value of pet insurance, and how important it can be when it comes to protecting your furry friend!  Call one of our agents today for a free quote and take the first step on the road to protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Barcelona!

Barcelona

Can you think of a better way to kick off a long weekend than by reading about an adorable furry friend? Neither can we!  Today we got to chat with Barcelona, an exotic girl who’s up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter.  This cute girl is a 5 month-old terrier mix who traveled a long way to find her forever family!

So Barcelona, I hear you’ve traveled a long way to be here, where are you originally from?

You’re right!  I’m actually from Puerto Rico, my name might make you think I’d be from Spain, but nope!  I just arrived here in the U.S. and I’ve only been in the shelter for a few days.  Everyone here is so nice but I’d really like to find a home of my own with a yard where I can run and play!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I really like to relax and snuggle!  Is there anything better than getting a nice belly rub at the end of the day?  I didn’t think so.  I also really like to play with toys, I have a lot to choose from at the shelter so I’m very lucky!  I’m not your typical puppy though, I tend to be pretty quiet and I’m not hyperactive at all.  I would love to go to a home where my new family would pet me all day long!

Is there anything that scares you?

Not at all, I’m a very brave girl and everyone here says I’ve adjusted to my new life quite nicely.  I’m so grateful to have a second chance and can’t wait to find my forever family!  When I was in Puerto Rico I didn’t have a family of my own or a warm bed to sleep in, and those days were scary.  Now that I’m here I’m just excited to start my new life!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I’m not picky at all,  I would be happy anywhere!  I love all people and am very gentle so I’d be great with kids,  having some human brothers and sisters to run around with would be awesome!  My new family would just need to be patient with me and bring me to some puppy training classes, I’m not fully trained yet so I need someone to work with me but I’m a very fast learner!

Barcelona, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Hmm, well pets get sick just like people do, and if people have insurance it only makes sense that pets would too!  From what I’ve heard the vet can be pretty expensive, I know I wouldn’t want to be stuck with a huge bill if my friend got sick, and pet insurance seems like a good way to avoid that.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!  Vet bills can add up quickly, and pet insurance is an affordable way to make sure your pet can get the health care they need if the situation arises.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and begin the process of protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Rayna!

rayna

Happy Furry Friend Friday!  It’s our favorite day of the week, how many of you can say that you get to chat with cute animals every Friday?  Today our special guest is Rayna, a 2 year-old dachshund and terrier mix up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter.  She’s been at the shelter for over a month now, which is far too long for someone with a face as cute as hers!  Rayna is ready for her forever home, so if you think she could be your new best friend pay her a visit!

So Rayna, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I’m just your typical pup I’d say, I love going out for walks!  I’d say that’s my favorite thing, the staff here at the shelter are awesome and bring me for about four walks a day!  After that I love playing with some toys to burn off the rest of my energy, and once I’m tuckered out there’s nothing better than a cuddle sesh with my favorite people.  I love to snuggle and jump up on laps, I’m only 20 pounds though so I’m not too heavy, I’d say I’m the perfect size for a lap dog!

Do you have a favorite toy that you like to play with?

I can’t choose one specific toy, but I love all plush squeaky toys!  Those are my favorite, I love getting a hold of them and running around and teasing my people with them, they think they can snatch it away from me, but I’m too quick for them!

Is there anything that scares you?

I wouldn’t use the word scare, I’d say loud commotion makes me nervous, and I tend to be timid around young children.  The way I see it, young children usually cause loud commotion, and sometimes they aren’t always dog-savvy and will pull on my tail and ears, which can be really annoying and even painful!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, first off I think I would need to go to a home with kids that are ages 12 and up.  Other than that I would hope that my new family would be active and like to bring me on walks, I’ve always wanted to go to the beach so maybe that’s something we could try.  I don’t have any other requests, I just want to be loved and petted by an awesome family that will love me forever!

So Rayna, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, pets can get sick just like people can, so doesn’t it make sense to get them insurance too?  I know the vet can get pretty expensive, I think sometimes it’s just as hard for people to go as it is for pets, pet insurance seems like a smart way to make sure you can get your furry friend the care they need without emptying your savings.

Rayna is as smart as she is cute!  When it comes to pet insurance, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves, so call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and get your furry friend the protection they deserve!

Furry Friend Friday With Yara!

yara

We’re back with your weekly dose of cuteness!  Today’s Furry Friend Friday interview features Yara, a 7 month-old terrier mix up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter.  This little girl is ready to be your new best friend, stop by and pay her a visit!

So Yara, I heard that you came a very long way to find your forever family, is this true?

Yes, you’re right!  I came all the way from Puerto Rico to be here, and so far I’m loving it here!  If it’s this nice here at a shelter, I can’t even imagine how nice it will be once I find a home of my own.

So what will  be your favorite way to spend the day once you do find your forever family?

I love playing!  Whether it’s outside, inside with my toys, or with my favorite people, I just love to be on the move doing something fun.  I’m still just a puppy so I have a lot of energy to burn!  Once I do get tired out after some playing, I’d love to curl up next to my favorite humans and get pets and treats.  Who wouldn’t love a day like that?

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

I have so many options here at the shelter, it’s hard to choose!  Not a bad problem to have, am I right?  If I had to choose I would say the stuffed squeaky toys, I can’t get enough of those.

Is there anything that scares you?

Nope, not at all!  I’m a very brave little girl and in my short time I’ve already experienced a cross-country move!  I’m really good at cuddles though if you get scared, and I’m a great watch dog so if you’re scared I’m sure I can make you feel safe.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, since I am so high-energy, I would do best in a home where I can get a lot of exercise!  Also, as I am still a puppy, I still have a lot to learn!  I would need to go to a family that would have patience with me and bring me to a puppy training course so that I could work on my manners.  I also want to be the baby and get all of the attention, so I would do best in a home without small children and where I can be the only pet.

Yara, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, even as a young pup I’ve already had to go to the vet a few times!  Just for typical stuff, shots, getting spayed, things like that, but I saw a lot of my fellow canine friends there too and not all of them were as lucky.  Some pups get very sick or even have accidents where they get hurt, and the vet bills for that can really add up!  Pet insurance seems like a good way to make sure you can pay for any unexpected vet bills that may come up.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step in protecting your furry friend’s future.
