We’re back with another Furry Friend Friday interview and this one is extra special!  Leo is a three year-old boy that came all the way across the pond to find his forever home!  He’s up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.

So Leo, I hear that you came all the way across the pond to be here, is that correct?

Yes it is!  I’m originally from Ireland so I came a long ways to find a forever home.  Believe it or not there are a lot of us greyhounds over in Ireland, but we aren’t really seen as pets so we often get transported to the U.S. or even Italy for homes.  I was with a great group over there called Limerick Animal Welfare and they worked very hard to get me over here and give me the chance to find a wonderful new home, so I will never forget my Irish roots!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I’m a very social guy, so I love being around people.  Everyone at the shelter says I’m so outgoing and friendly, they love being around me as much as I love being around them!  I’m a very calm boy, I like to hang around and get a good nap in but I also like to play and run around every so often.  They say I’m the best of both worlds because I can be active if my family wants to play or go for a walk, but I’m just as happy to curl up at their feet and relax.

Do you have a favorite treat?

I’ll take anything I can get when it comes to food!  I LOVE to eat and I’ll be happy with whatever is offered, I’m not a finicky eater at all.

Is there anything that makes you nervous?

Well I don’t really like loud traffic noises, car horns, sirens, things like that.  I’m a mellow guy and those loud noises make me antsy.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

As long as there are no cats, I could go anywhere.  I’m not particularly fond of cats but I’d be great with other dogs whether they’re big or small.  I love all people too so I could go to a home with small children as long as they are kind to me.  My only request is to go to a family that will bring me somewhere I can run free every so often, as long as it’s fenced in of course.

Leo, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

You wouldn’t believe some of the things I’ve seen out in the world, it can be a dangerous place!  Unexpected illnesses, accidents, all kinds of things can happen that you aren’t ready for.  These things can be tough enough without wondering how you’re going to pay for them, so pet insurance seems like a good idea because it’s one less thing to worry about if you pet needs urgent vet care.

Leo is a very smart, and well traveled boy, he’s seen a lot in his short life and know how important it is to be prepared.  Pet insurance can make sure that you’re prepared for those situations you hope will never happen, but sometimes they do come up in life.  Call on of our agents today for a free quote, it’s the first step in protecting your furry friend from the unexpected!
