Tis The Season To Celebrate!

Tis the season to celebrate!  We’re celebrating the start of the holiday season by giving away two tickets to see “A Christmas Story, The Musical” at the Wang Theatre in Boston! This 2013 Tony Award Nominee for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book is sure to be fun for all ages.

Entering is easy!  All you have to do is “Like” our post on Facebook, and comment with your own favorite holiday tradition or story to enter.  The tickets are for a matinee showing on Saturday, December 7th at 2 PM and are valued at $200.   Don’t forget to share the post so that friends and family can enter too!

Official Contest Rules:

  1. Entry Instructions:  Each person may enter by clicking “Like” on the MassDrive Facebook page and comment with your favorite holiday tradition or story. You may also enter the Contest by sending us the requested information by a postcard or letter addressed to “Christmas Story Contest” to our mailing address at 241 A Street, Suite 400, Boston, Massachusetts, 02110. Please include your submission and how to contact you by phone, email and mailing address.  These complete Contest Rules may also be obtained by sending us a request at our address, above.
  2. All entrants must be Massachusetts residents and age 18 or older.
  3. Only one entry per person. No purchase of any MassDrive product is necessary and will not increase the likelihood of winning.
  4. Entrants may not submit content that contains any elements that violate a third party’s copyrights or trademark rights; or depictions of any individuals that have not granted permission to appear in the entry.
  5. The contest will begin on Wednesday November 6, 2013  and will end at 11:59 PM on Thursday, November, 14th.  The contest winner will be selected by MassDrive based upon each entrant’s creativity and unique value and it will be judged upon adherence to our contest rules.  The winner will be announced in a post on our Facebook page the following day.  The winner can inbox us with their address and we will mail the tickets to them.
  6. The contest winner will be mailed two tickets for the Saturday, December 7, 2013 2 PM performance of “A Christmas Story, The Musical” held at the Wang Theatre in Boston.  These tickets are valued at $200.
  7. Employees and family members of MassDrive or Next Generation Insurance Group LLC are ineligible to enter.
  8. MassDrive reserves the right to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest, if in its sole discretion any problem prevents the Contest from running as planned.  All entrants must agree to release and hold harmless MassDrive from any claim by the entrant associated by entrant’s participation in the Contest.  MassDrive is not responsible and cannot be held liable for technical errors or other things that may prevent the promotion from running as planned.  MassDrive also reserves the right to substitute the contest prize with another prize of equal or greater value if the advertised contest prize is not available.
  9. These Contest Rules shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, excluding its conflicts of laws provisions.

Christmas Performances In Boston!

Who doesn’t enjoy a great play or concert right before the holidays?  They get you in the spirit, are entertaining, and are the perfect excuse to venture into Boston for a day in the city!  Broadway may be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of plays, and although the Boston theater district has fewer theaters and performances, it is by no means lacking in talent.  This Christmas get in the holiday spirit with some of these festive performances, they won’t be here much longer!

Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas – Get your tickets while you still can!  This holiday favorite will be at the Citi Performing Arts Center, Wang Theatre until December 9th!  Perfect for children and entertaining for adults, the play is narrated by the Grinch’s dog, Max.  Watch the Grinch plot to steal Christmas from the yuletide loving Whos, all while listening to holiday classics such as “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas”.  The play runs for about 84 minutes, so it is not too long for rambunctious little ones to sit through.  This classic tale will warm your heart, even if it is two sizes too small, right in time for the holidays!  Tickets range from $35-$125 and are available here.

The Nutcracker – The Boston Ballet continues this holiday tradition once again!  Performances have already begun but the ballet will be at the Boston Opera House until December 30th!  Choreographed by Mikko Nissinen and composed by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky, this long running ballet is something you won’t soon forget!  See it like never before, it returns this year with new sets and costumes and is sure to impress family members of all ages.  The performance runs for two hours with one intermission.  Watch Clara save her Nutcracker Prince from the Mouse King and travel to the Land of Sweets, all before waking up and wondering if her Christmas adventure was all a dream!  Tickets are going fast so get yours while you can!

Boston Holiday Pops Tour – The Boston Symphony Orchestra invites you and your family to visit Symphony Hall from December 5th-24th for their Holiday Pops concerts!  There will be traditional sing-alongs and even a visit from Saint Nick!  There are even kids matinees where children can enjoy post-concert photos with Santa!  If you are seated at floor tables there are even kid-friendly menu options and holiday snacks available!  Children under the age of 2 are admitted for free to the children’s matinee, however children under the age of 4 are not permitted at evening Holiday Pops performances.  Ticket prices vary based on date, time, and seating location but on average range from $29-$129.

Get your tickets for these festive holiday performances while they last!  These family friendly events are perfect for all ages, and there is something for everyone! Whether you’re a fan of the classic Christmas tale of the Whos and the Grinch in Whoville, the dramatic Nutcracker ballet, or love listening and singing along to holiday favorites with the Boston Pops, all of these performances are sure to impress!

Free Events This November!

The holidays are on their way and will be here before we know it!  If you’re trying to save your pennies for Christmas shopping and presents, check out some of these events this month.  All of them are going on in Boston and are totally FREE!  Now you can enjoy a girls night, soak in some Christmas cheer, get a great workout, and get some tips on healthy choices for you and your family all while saving up for the holiday season.  Does it get much better than that?

Pilates Boot Camp With Jennifer Phelan – Now’s you chance to get a world class work out with Boston’s #1 rated Pilates instructor right in the middle of Faneuil Hall!  Jennifer Phelan is a nationally certified and award winning Pilates instructor who is offering a free 45 minute workshop on Saturday, November 17th from 9:15-10 AM.  Stop by the upper rotunda of the Quincy Market building and get your workout on!  Pilates helps to improve flexibility, muscle strength, endurance, and focuses on developing a strong core, steady breathing, and improved balance.  This is the perfect opportunity to test the waters and see if Pilates is right for you!  This event is free for people of all ages, although participants are expected to bring their own mat.

Story Time With The Grinch! – Join the Citi Performing Arts Center for an interactive reading of Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! This classic Christmas story will be led by Citi Center’s Artist Fellow, Toni Bee and will last for about an hour.  There will also be an original poetry workshop and costume contest so be sure to dress up as your favorite Whoville character to spread the holiday cheer!  Costume contest participants will also be entered into a drawing to receive tickets to How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical which will be playing at the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre, from November 23rd until December 9th.  This event begins on Saturday, November 17th at 3PM but be sure to get there early and get a good spot!  Afterwards, take a walk outside and stop by the Blink! Launch Event which we mentioned last week in our blog on events this November.  This is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season and what’s even better is that both events are totally free!  Story Time With The Grinch also takes place on November 24th at 10 AM, December 1st at 10 AM, and December 8th at 10 AM so there will be plenty of opportunities to stop by if  you can’t make it on the 17th!

All of these events sound like a great time, especially since they are free!  Now you can enjoy an exclusive shopping experience, world class workout, health workshop, and day of Christmas cheer all on a budget!  These events are perfect for college students, friends, families, couples, and anyone looking to have a good time this month so get out there and enjoy!
