Furry Friend Friday With Transy

transy

Who’s ready to kick off their weekend with a Furry Friend Friday interview? Transy is!  This handsome older gentleman is a beagle mix and is ready to find a best friend to share his golden years with.  He’s about 7 or 8 years old and is up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.  How can you resist that face?  Stop by and pay Transy a visit if you think you two could be a match made in heaven.

So Transy, what’s your favorite thing to do?

Well I love to sleep!  Does that surprise you?  I’m an older gentleman so I need more sleep than pups do.  Did you know that some dogs need up to 13 hours of sleep a day?  I think I may fall into that category.

Do you like to go for walks?

Yes I love getting out and about!  Despite my age I still have a good amount of energy, when I’m awake, that is.  I can’t go too far, I prefer my walks to be short and sweet but I still love smelling the fresh air.

Do you have a favorite treat?

I enjoy your good old classic milk bones.  They can’t be beat if you ask me, that’s probably why they’ve been around for so long, I remember snacking on those when I was just a puppy!

Is there anything that scares you?

Nope, I’ve seen a good deal in my time and it takes a lot to rattle me.  I like to think of myself as a relaxed guy that goes with the flow.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I think I’m a pretty lovable dog, so I think I could really fit in anywhere!  Like I said, I go with the flow.  I probably would be best with an older couple that moves at my pace and is looking for a couch buddy.  I also get along with other dogs and am good with dog-savvy children.  I would probably even enjoy the company of a cat!

Transy, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well like I said, I’ve seen a lot in my time, including friends of mine who suffered some serious injuries, even while they were in their prime.  You never know what can happen with a pet whether they are young or old, so it’s probably a good idea to be prepared for anything.

We couldn’t agree with Transy more.  He is clearly a very smart boy and understands the value of being prepared to get your pet the best possible care should they need it.  We here at MassDrive want you to be prepared too, call one of our agents for a free pet insurance quote and begin the journey to protecting your furry friend and your wallet!

Furry Friend Friday With Wonder!

Wonder

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  Are you as excited for the long weekend as we are?  We know someone else who’s excited!  Meet Wonder, this cute girl is up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.  We can’t help but wonder why Wonder doesn’t have a home yet, she’s been at the shelter for about three months and is ready for her forever family!

So Wonder, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

Well, as an older gal I like to relax a lot.  I can spend a good amount of time snoozing around but once I get outside, I feel like a puppy again!  For an 8 year old, I’m still pretty fast, I was a racing dog after all.  I also love being cuddled by people, I’m very sweet (so I’ve been told) and love to be petted.

What was it like being a racing dog?

Well I was actually all the way in Kansas during that part of my life, and I didn’t love it.  I was mainly used for breeding and was a great mom to all of my puppies.  The staff at the shelter say I still have that motherly nature about me.  As sweet and gentle as I am, I don’t do well with small animals.  It’s not that I don’t like them, I just can’t resist chasing them, can you blame me?

Do you like to go for walks?

Oh I love being out and about!  As I said, I can sleep a lot but when I am out I am pretty active for my age, I like to stay fit and work on my girlish figure.

What about toys?

Toys are fun, my favorites are those squeaky ones, I can’t get enough!

Is there anything you’re afraid of?

Nothing comes to mind, I’ve seen a lot in my days and so it takes a lot to rattle me.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I’m a very sweet girl and could fit in anywhere, as long as there are no small animals!  The staff here also aren’t too sure how I would be around small kids, and I have to say I’m not either since I’ve never met too many of them!  I know I would be good with older kids in their teens and adults of course.  My age means I’m not too active but I still like to get out and about, so I guess you can say I’m moderately active, so a family that fits in line with that would be perfect!

Why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider for their furry friends?

Well as an older gal, you never know what might come up, and it’s always good to be prepared!  I know that when I finally find my forever home, I’ll love my owners like family, and I hope they would feel the same about me and protect me like any other member of their family!

Wonder hasn’t lost a step!  She’s a smart lady and looks pretty good for her age if you ask us!  She’s right when it comes to pet insurance, it will help you prepare for the unexpected and avoid a hefty vet bill should your furry friend get into an accident or get sick.  Call us for a free quote and take the first step in protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Baxter!

baxter 2

Happy Furry Friend Friday!  What better way to kick off your weekend than with a does of some serious cuteness?  Meet Baxter, this cute little chihuahua is up for adoption at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem and is about 5 months old.  He’s been there since November, so he’s ready to kick off the New Year with a new home!

So Baxter, what is your favorite thing to do?

Well I don’t know if I can pick just one, there are so many things I love to do!  I especially love playing, whether it’s with my other K-9 friends or with one of my toys, I love to be entertained, I’m still a puppy after all!  Even though I’m pretty active, I still love being around people and cuddling.  I’m very lucky here at the shelter, the staff all carry me around like a baby, I love that so much that sometimes I fall asleep while they’re carrying me!

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

I have a green ball that I absolutely love to play with!  You can see me playing with it in my video at the bottom of the page.

Is there anything that scares you?

Well being a smaller guy, I don’t love a lot of commotion.  When people are running around and things are hectic, I get a little stressed but I wouldn’t say scared, just nervous.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I can get along with anyone, really, but I’m what you would call a “special needs pet”.  You see I was rescued from a hoarding situation in Alabama, and when I got to the shelter here, the staff discovered that I have what’s called Megaesophagus.  Basically that’s just a big long word meaning that when I eat the food has a tough time being pushed down into my stomach, it can be very dangerous if not treated correctly.  It’s not hard at all to manage, I just need to be in a home with someone that can be home with me a lot.  You see I eat about three meals a day and I have to eat sitting upright and then remain upright for a half hour after I eat.  It’s pretty easy, the staff here just put me in a small front dog carrier, I’m very light to carry and love sitting like this, I sometimes even fall asleep like this!

So Baxter, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, as I’ve already learned in my short life, sometimes things you don’t expect can change your life in a big way.  I’m doing very well with my condition and it’s extremely manageable, but some other pets aren’t always as lucky as me, so pet insurance seems like a good way to make sure they can get health care should they need it.

Baxter is wise beyond his years, or months rather.  Pet insurance is a great option to consider and it ensures that your pet and wallet will be protected should they have any unexpected accidents, or come down with a sudden illness.  Call one of our agents for a free quote and take the first step to protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Boo Boo!

booboo

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  We’re back with another interview to get your weekend started in the right direction, today I got to chat with Boo Boo, a 1 year old Pekingese/Shiba Inu mix up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society!

Hi Boo Boo!  Could you be any cuter?!  Thanks for taking the time to sit down with me today!

Oh you’re too kind, it’s my pleasure to be able to do this!  I love being around people, so when I heard about the opportunity, I jumped at it!

Well what’s your favorite thing to do during the day?

Well I’m still a puppy so I’m pretty active, I love going on nice long walks!  I’m a fast runner, and here at the shelter I get to run around with the other dogs, so that’s fun.  I’m also a big people person, once I get to know them (I can be a little shy at first), but I love cuddling up on a nice warm lap after a walk!

Do you have a favorite toy?

I like playing with all toys!  If I had to choose a favorite I would say those plush squeaky toys, they’re awesome and I love the noise they make!

What about a favorite treat?

I LOVE cheese, it’s my favorite by far!  I also love ice cream, but since those are both people foods I don’t get my paws on them as often as I would like.

Is there anything that scares you?

Well, I’m not much of a tough guy, and I’m pretty shy to begin with, so I get really nervous around big dogs or hyper dogs that I don’t know.  I’m on the smaller side, and those bigger guys just intimidate me.

So what do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I could fit in at a lot of places, I’m good with kids as long as they are dog savvy and respectful, I could even go to a home with cats!  When it comes to other dogs, I would be alright with another little one like myself, as long as they are calm.  I would like to go somewhere that I can be active and go on lots of walks, or run around a fenced in yard.  I would also like to find someone that can be patient with me, like I said I can be pretty shy until I get to know you so I hope I can find a forever family that will help me come out of my shell!

Boo Boo why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well pets are part of the family, and when you already have a human family it can be expensive!  I can only imagine how much it would cost to pay for some unexpected vet bills.  Pet insurance is an affordable way to make sure your pets are protected like every other member of your family.

When it comes to vet visits, pet parents may dread it just as much as their pet.  Not only is it hard enough to watch our furry friends suffer, it’s hard to come up with a huge amount of money to pay their bills!  Pet insurance is surprisingly affordable and can really be instrumental in getting the best possible care for your pet, be prepared for anything and call one of our agents today for a free quote!

The Importance Of Pet Insurance: Why All Pet Parents Should Invest

pet insurance

Here at MassDrive, we love our pets, and we’re guessing you love your pets too, that’s why we think it is so important for all pet owners to invest in pet insurance for their furry friends!  Our pets are like members of our own family why not protect them like it?  Humans have health insurance, and your furry friend should get them same care if they were to become sick!

Many animal shelters that have pets up for adoption often offer complimentary pet insurance for the first month after adoption, and then after that it’s up to the owner to purchase another policy.  Policies are not as expensive as you would think, and it is definitely more affordable for most people to pay a small amount of money over a long period of time rather than having to pay a vet bill all at once.  Vet bills can add up quickly, even a simple check-up can be costly if you don’t have insurance.  If you’re going to the vet for anything more complex than a check-up it will likely be even more expensive, even costing thousands of dollars depending on the severity of the animal’s injury or sickness.  For some, spending thousands of dollars on their pet at once is not possible, and as pet owners ourselves we know that we would never want to deny potentially life-saving care to our furry friends just because of the cost.

The cost of your monthly payment depends on a few factors, what type of pet you have, their age, and breed.  The older your dog is, the more expensive your monthly payment will be.  Purchasing pet insurance for your pet as soon as you adopt it is the best advice we can give.  It will be less expensive and you may be eligible for potential discounts the longer you remain with the same carrier.  Another reason why it’s better to get pet insurance sooner rather than later is because pet insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions.  If you get pet insurance for your cat or dog as soon as it’s adopted, anything that it comes down with after you purchase a policy would be covered.

Bringing your pet to the vet is inevitable, so why not be prepared?  Older pets typically have more health problems than younger pets and younger pets are more likely to find some type of trouble to get themselves into.  Whether they escape the yard and come back with a bunch of ticks, or eat something that makes them sick, eventually they will get into something that they shouldn’t.

The bottom line we’re trying to make is that anything can happen when you least expect it, that’s why they call it an accident.  Don’t break the bank paying for the vet, give us a call for a pet insurance quote today!  Our pet insurance policies are through the ASPCA and reimburse up to 90% of usual and customary covered charges, depending on state availability and you can use ANY licensed vet in the United States and Canada!  Have more than one pet?  You can save up to 10% on your policy if you have multiple pets!  These policies only cover cats and dogs, however if you have a bird or reptile, there are other carriers that can write policies for them, ask your vet to recommend one today!
