Furry Friend Friday With Bruschi!

bruschi

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  Today I got to sit down with this handsome boy named Bruschi, up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society.  Bruschi is an 8 year-old husky/shepherd mix and has had a rough few months, he’s currently recovering from a leg injury after being hit by a bus!  This cutie is a trooper though and took some time to chat with me this afternoon.

So Bruschi, I’m glad to see you’re recovering!  What is your favorite way to spend the day?

Thank you, I’m feeling a lot better and have more pep in my step every day!  My favorite thing to do is be around people though.  I love my friends here at the shelter and they even let me hang out in the office with them sometimes!  I would have to say that is my favorite way to spend the day, I don’t like to be alone for too long.  I’m also talented too!  I’m a very good singer and if you start to howl, I’ll howl right along with you!

I know you’re an older guy and are very mature, but do you ever take some time to play with toys?

I love playing with toys no matter how old I am!  My absolute favorite toy is a squeaky plush ball that I bring everywhere with me!  When I do have to be alone, having my toys makes me feel a little better.

Do you like to go for walks?

I actually just started going for walks and I’m doing great!  I can’t go too far yet, but I’m building up my strength as we speak.  I have more pep in my step every day and am feeling better than ever.

What about fears?  Is there anything that scares you?

Not that I can think of, I’m not trying to brag but I’m a pretty tough guy, I am part shepherd and husky after all!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, I would love to be with someone that would be home a lot to give me attention and pet me.  Maybe a retired couple looking for a companion or a family with a lot of kids to play with me!  I’m a friendly boy and would get along with almost everyone, except for other animals.  I would have to be the only pet in my new home because I don’t like to share the spotlight and want all of your attention for myself!

Bruschi, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, as I’ve seen in my own life, accidents happen and you never know when they will be so it’s hard to budget for something unexpected like that.  I was very lucky here at the shelter because after I was injured I had a lot of nice people taking care of me!

Bruschi’s story is a perfect example of why pet insurance is a great investment.  He was unexpectedly hit by a bus and if that were to happen to any pet, the vet bills would be pretty high.  If you have pet insurance, the majority of the costs for treatment would be covered!  As all pet parents know, our furry friends can always find a way to get into trouble, whether it’s something as harmless as going through the trash, or getting loose and winding up in the wrong place at the wrong time like Bruschi.  Call us for a free pet insurance quote today and protect your furry friend and your wallet from the unexpected.

Furry Friend Friday With KC!

KC

Happy Friday everyone, it’s a beautiful day out there and we’re celebrating with another interview!  Today I got to chat with KC, a 2 year-old plott hound mix up for adoption at the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield.  KC is a very special girl but the adoption floor makes her nervous so she is lucky enough to be kept in a section of the shelter that’s a bit more quiet and mellow, if you stop by the shelter be sure to ask about her!

So KC, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I love being outside and playing fun games!  I love running and am very active, I would love to find a family that would bring me hiking, on lots of walks, and maybe even to the beach if I’m lucky!  I spend a lot of time training here too, it’s really fun and the staff here says I’m so smart!  I could use a little help with some basic manners so a few classes would be helpful but I’m sure I can pick up quickly.  The trainers here even use me as the demo dog at the training classes here, I’m so proud of that!

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

My favorite toy ever is my stuffed toy, aka “my baby”.  I really like squeaky toys too!  Some times I like to de-squeak them when I get too excited!

What about a favorite treat?

I love Duck and Potato treats!  They are so yummy and pretty good for me!

Do you have any fears?

Well right now I am very anxious in the shelter,  the environment is stressful on me and makes me nervous!  I don’t like the constant barking, other noises, and the people coming and going all the time.  I have been here for more than three weeks which makes me a “Lonely Heart” and my adoption fee is 50% off!  Seeing my friends get adopted while I stay behind gets hard after a while, so I’m hoping I find a forever home where I can finally relax.

What would be the perfect family for you?

Well like I said, I’m very active so I would like to be with a family that can bring me outside a lot, I would also be great in a home with children ages 13 or over, don’t get me wrong, I love little kids but I’m a strong girl who can still be a bit rambunctious and I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock someone over.  When it comes to other animals, I would be alright with other dogs as long as I meet them first, but I have no experience with cats.

Why do you think pet insurance is important for all pet parents to consider?

Well I think all pet parents should be prepared for anything, no matter how old their pet is.  Pets are like humans, and the older we get the more likely it is that we will need to go to the doctor.  Even young dogs can get into trouble that can send them to the vet’s office so it’s better to be prepared and have pet insurance coverage so you don’t have to break the bank at the vet.

Regardless of your pet’s age, odds are they will end up at the vet for more than just their annual check up.  Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst and call us for a free pet insurance quote today!

Happy Furry Friend Friday!

whisksmoke

Today’s Furry Friend Friday interview is extra special, we have double the trouble (just kidding), double the excitement, double the fur, and double the cuteness this week!  Meet these two 3 year-old brothers, Smoke, and Whisk.  These cats are up for adoption at the Scituate Animal Shelter and have been looking for their forever home for a while now!  They can get separated but would prefer to be in a home together if possible!

So Whisk, how do you and your brother like to spend the day?

Well we are both very similar, not only in our looks but in our personalities as well.  Both of us like to be held and picked up, although if we get distracted by something we definitely have to go investigate so might jump right off your lap!  We are both very happy though and enjoy being around people and other cats, not too sure about dogs just yet.

What about you Smoke? Do you have a favorite toy to play with during the day?

I love squeaky toys, we both do actually.  There’s also a big scratching post that’s also a tower we can climb up on and stare out the window.  If I’m not playing with my squeaky toys, that’s usually where you’ll find me.

So Whisk do you enjoy the great outdoors?

No, we are both strictly indoor cats.  In fact, all of the cats that get adopted out from the Scituate Animal Shelter are required to be indoor cats.  It can be very dangerous outside for cats when you think of all the risks including cars, coyotes, foxes, diseases, you name it!  We enjoy being indoors anyways and don’t think we’re missing out on anything.

Smoke is there anything that makes you nervous?

Nothing in particular, we are both pretty brave and very friendly, we aren’t skittish at all around people!

Why do you both think pet insurance is important for all pet parents to consider?

Well, we are both only 3 years old but both have a mild dental condition that may need attention in the future.  At the moment it doesn’t bother us, in fact we probably wouldn’t have even known about it if it weren’t for the vet!  If you have pet insurance before something like that is discovered, treatment would be covered! That would be a huge help! – Smoke

Well, I would have to agree with my brother, and maybe if our old owners had pet insurance they could have afforded to fix the problem before it got worse. – Whisk

These two brothers are pretty smart 3 year olds!  Not only do they know the value of a dollar, they are thinking big picture when it comes to their own health.  Just as people age and need more frequent health care, the same goes for our pets so it’s best to be prepared.  Give us a call at MassDrive and get a free pet insurance quote for your furry friend today!
