Furry Friend Friday With Kelso!

For today’s Furry Friend Friday interview we got to chat with Kelso, a 5 year old lab up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society.  This handsome boy was picked up as a stray and is ready to find a forever home where he can enjoy a nice warm dog bed, toys, and the occasional dog treat!  If you’re looking for your new best friend, look no further and visit Kelso today!

So Kelso, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I love to play, even though I’m 5 years old, I have a lot of energy!  I’m pretty rambunctious and my friends here at the shelter describe me as a bit of a bull in a china shop, so I love going for long walks and playing with toys to help burn off my energy.  After a day of fun and running around, I love to curl up and spend some time with my people.

What are some of your favorite toys?

My favorite toys are the squeaky ones!  The only problem is they aren’t that sturdy, so I go through them pretty quickly.  The staff here are really nice though and they know I can be a little rough with my toys so they try to give my ones that are a bit tougher and will last longer.

What about a favorite treat?

I love love love food and will eat anything in sight!  That might be why the staff here are trying to help me watch my figure and limit my treat intake, I think I look great but maybe I have gained a pound or two.

Is there anything that scares you?

Nope, I’m a pretty confident boy and can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well since I’m an active boy I would love to be with a family that can bring me for long walks, or maybe even to see new places like the beach and the mountains!  I love other dogs so would be good in a home with another furry friend if you  already have one, and I love kids but would do better with older ones that aren’t afraid of a rambunctious boy.  Since I am a bit rowdy, I would benefit from some training courses, but I’m a fast learner and am sure I would make my new family proud!

Kelso why do you think pet insurance is a good investment for all pet parents to consider?

Well I’ve already learned that life can take some unexpected twists and turns,  so pet insurance seems like a smart way to make sure your pet can get the health care they need should anything unexpected happen.

Kelso is a smart young boy, and knows that life can hold all kinds or surprises, including when it comes to your pet ‘s health.  Pet insurance is an easy way to protect their future and ensure that if the time comes, your only concern will be their health, rather than worrying about the cost.  Call us today and get a free quote from one of our agents!

Furry Friend Friday With Boo Boo!

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  We’re back with another interview to get your weekend started in the right direction, today I got to chat with Boo Boo, a 1 year old Pekingese/Shiba Inu mix up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society!

Hi Boo Boo!  Could you be any cuter?!  Thanks for taking the time to sit down with me today!

Oh you’re too kind, it’s my pleasure to be able to do this!  I love being around people, so when I heard about the opportunity, I jumped at it!

Well what’s your favorite thing to do during the day?

Well I’m still a puppy so I’m pretty active, I love going on nice long walks!  I’m a fast runner, and here at the shelter I get to run around with the other dogs, so that’s fun.  I’m also a big people person, once I get to know them (I can be a little shy at first), but I love cuddling up on a nice warm lap after a walk!

Do you have a favorite toy?

I like playing with all toys!  If I had to choose a favorite I would say those plush squeaky toys, they’re awesome and I love the noise they make!

What about a favorite treat?

I LOVE cheese, it’s my favorite by far!  I also love ice cream, but since those are both people foods I don’t get my paws on them as often as I would like.

Is there anything that scares you?

Well, I’m not much of a tough guy, and I’m pretty shy to begin with, so I get really nervous around big dogs or hyper dogs that I don’t know.  I’m on the smaller side, and those bigger guys just intimidate me.

So what do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I could fit in at a lot of places, I’m good with kids as long as they are dog savvy and respectful, I could even go to a home with cats!  When it comes to other dogs, I would be alright with another little one like myself, as long as they are calm.  I would like to go somewhere that I can be active and go on lots of walks, or run around a fenced in yard.  I would also like to find someone that can be patient with me, like I said I can be pretty shy until I get to know you so I hope I can find a forever family that will help me come out of my shell!

Boo Boo why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well pets are part of the family, and when you already have a human family it can be expensive!  I can only imagine how much it would cost to pay for some unexpected vet bills.  Pet insurance is an affordable way to make sure your pets are protected like every other member of your family.

When it comes to vet visits, pet parents may dread it just as much as their pet.  Not only is it hard enough to watch our furry friends suffer, it’s hard to come up with a huge amount of money to pay their bills!  Pet insurance is surprisingly affordable and can really be instrumental in getting the best possible care for your pet, be prepared for anything and call one of our agents today for a free quote!

Furry Friend Friday With Bruschi!

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  Today I got to sit down with this handsome boy named Bruschi, up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society.  Bruschi is an 8 year-old husky/shepherd mix and has had a rough few months, he’s currently recovering from a leg injury after being hit by a bus!  This cutie is a trooper though and took some time to chat with me this afternoon.

So Bruschi, I’m glad to see you’re recovering!  What is your favorite way to spend the day?

Thank you, I’m feeling a lot better and have more pep in my step every day!  My favorite thing to do is be around people though.  I love my friends here at the shelter and they even let me hang out in the office with them sometimes!  I would have to say that is my favorite way to spend the day, I don’t like to be alone for too long.  I’m also talented too!  I’m a very good singer and if you start to howl, I’ll howl right along with you!

I know you’re an older guy and are very mature, but do you ever take some time to play with toys?

I love playing with toys no matter how old I am!  My absolute favorite toy is a squeaky plush ball that I bring everywhere with me!  When I do have to be alone, having my toys makes me feel a little better.

Do you like to go for walks?

I actually just started going for walks and I’m doing great!  I can’t go too far yet, but I’m building up my strength as we speak.  I have more pep in my step every day and am feeling better than ever.

What about fears?  Is there anything that scares you?

Not that I can think of, I’m not trying to brag but I’m a pretty tough guy, I am part shepherd and husky after all!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, I would love to be with someone that would be home a lot to give me attention and pet me.  Maybe a retired couple looking for a companion or a family with a lot of kids to play with me!  I’m a friendly boy and would get along with almost everyone, except for other animals.  I would have to be the only pet in my new home because I don’t like to share the spotlight and want all of your attention for myself!

Bruschi, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, as I’ve seen in my own life, accidents happen and you never know when they will be so it’s hard to budget for something unexpected like that.  I was very lucky here at the shelter because after I was injured I had a lot of nice people taking care of me!

Bruschi’s story is a perfect example of why pet insurance is a great investment.  He was unexpectedly hit by a bus and if that were to happen to any pet, the vet bills would be pretty high.  If you have pet insurance, the majority of the costs for treatment would be covered!  As all pet parents know, our furry friends can always find a way to get into trouble, whether it’s something as harmless as going through the trash, or getting loose and winding up in the wrong place at the wrong time like Bruschi.  Call us for a free pet insurance quote today and protect your furry friend and your wallet from the unexpected.

Furry Friend Friday With Lucy!

Here were are again, another Friday, and another Furry Friend interview!  Today I got to sit down and chat with Lucy, a five and a half year-old Wire Fox Terrier up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society.  Wire Fox Terriers are known for their spunk and energetic personalities, and Lucy is no exception!

So Lucy, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I love being around people, getting petted and laying in the closest lap is one of my favorite things to do.  I also love going outside and playing with my toys, we get to go out three times a day here and I love rolling around in the grass, the yard is even fenced in so I can run around without a leash!

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

Not really, I love all of them but I don’t like to share.  I don’t get along with many other dogs so would like to go to a home where I am the only pet!  Here at the shelter I have a lot of toys to choose from though and there are enough to go around for everyone.

What about a favorite treat?

Believe it or not I am not very motivated by food and am rather picky sometimes.  I don’t really have a favorite treat, maybe one day I will but I haven’t discovered it yet.

Do you know any fun tricks?

Well in addition to the basic commands like sit, stay, and down I know how to give my paw and shake hands!  I’m a clever girl and could probably learn a few more tricks with some training.

Is there anything that scares you or makes you nervous?

Thunder!  It is so loud and makes me very nervous!  We have had a few thunder storms lately and it would be nice if I found my forever home by the time the next one comes!  I would feel so much better if I had someone to cuddle with during these storms!

Lucy why do you think pet insurance is good for all pet parents to consider?

Well, having pet insurance means you are prepared for the unexpected with your pet!  It’s always nice to know we are protected just like the other members of your family!

Like the saying goes, it’s better to be safe than sorry!  Accidents can happen when you least expect it and paying for vet bills upfront can be very expensive.  Pet insurance protects your furry friend and your wallet whether it’s at a yearly check up or for something more serious.  Give us a call at MassDrive for a pet insurance quote and make sure you’re prepared for the unexpected when it comes to your pet!

Furry Friend Friday With Leroy!

Happy Furry Friend Friday everyone!  It’s a scorcher out there, we hope you’re staying as cool as our friend Leroy!  This little cutie is a 3-year-old papillon mix up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society, and he’s ready to meet his forever family!  Found as a stray, this guy is ready to finally settle down in his new home!

So Leroy, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

I LOVE going for walks!  Being out and about is my favorite thing to do by far!  I also love playing fetch, I have a lot of energy and that tuckers me right out.

Do you have a favorite place to go for a walk?

Well the shelter here is right near the Merrimack River, so I love walking along the water.  There is always so much going on there, especially now that it’s getting warmer!  I love watching all of the people out on boats, maybe when I finally get adopted my new family will bring me out on the water and I can see what it’s like to go boating!

Is there anything that you’re afraid of?

Not really, I went through a few evaluations when I came here and nothing scared me or made me nervous!  In fact, I did great on all of my evaluations!  I’m approved to go to homes with another small dog, or even a cat maybe!  Not positive about cats but I would be willing to give them a chance.  I would even be good with school-aged children, basically I love everyone and would be perfect for nearly any home!

Do you have a favorite treat?

I go crazy for hot dogs!  They are my absolute favorite snack, but I don’t get them very often since I’m not supposed to have people food.

What about a favorite toy?

You know those plush squeaky toys?  Those drive me crazy!  It’s kind of a love-hate relationship, I love chewing on them and the noise they make, but hate when they rip apart and that stuffing gets stuck in my mouth!

Leroy, why do you think it’s a good idea for all pets to have pet insurance?

Well personally I love to socialize, and where do dogs go to do that?  The dog park.  The only problem with that is that dog parks carry all kinds of diseases!  Imagine hanging out with your friends in a public bathroom?   As clean as I am, it’s still easy to catch something from a dog park.

Leroy is a smart boy, and what he has to say about dog parks is very true!  It’s easy for your pet to catch a disease from another dog, dog’s get sick just like people do!  Dog parks’s are not the only risk either, your dog can get sick or have an accident when you least expect it, that’s why it’s so important to be prepared and protect your furry friend no matter what!  Protect your pet like you would any other member of your family, call us for a pet insurance quote today!

Thanks again to the Lowell Humane Society for letting us feature Leroy this week, and a very special thank you to Crystal, the director of the shelter and one of our customers here at MassDrive!  The Lowell Humane Society still has Peachie up for adoption as well, she was featured in a previous Furry Friend Friday interview which you can read here!

A Very Special Furry Friend Friday!

Happy Furry Friend Friday!  We’re back today with a very special interview, typically we feature furry friends that are pets of our employees, but today we took a different approach.  We contacted the Lowell Humane Society to see if they had any animals that would be willing to sit down with me, and lucky enough I got to sit down with Peachie!  Peachie is a two and a half year old girl up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society, she is house trained and very sweet!

So Peachie, what is your favorite way to spend the day?

I love going for walks!  It’s my favorite thing to do and lately I have even been doing some nose work training!  I’ve been smelling different things and am getting better and better each day, and when I go for walks there are so many different things for me to explore.  I also love getting my belly rubbed, I am a real cuddler!

Do you have a favorite place to go for a walk?

Well usually I get to go outside in the play yard or across the street and walk along the Merrimack River, it’s really beautiful but I have been here at the shelter for a while so would like to find my forever home and go on a lot more adventures!  I’m sure there must be a lot of other smells to experience out there and I have a lot of energy!

Do you have a favorite toy?

My favorite toy is my squeaky rabbit, I love the noise it makes every time I chew on it!  I also love marrow bones!  They are my favorite treat but are also kind of like a toy, I can chew on those things for hours.

As a pit bull mix you look very tough, but is there anything that scares you?

Well looks can be deceiving, even though I am a pit bull mix I am still a gentle girl, although I do have some anxiety.  I get along with most people, but sometimes certain people make me very nervous, I would never bite them but sometimes I bark at them.  I would be best off in a home where I am the only pet with adults only, because I have anxiety, other animals and kids sometimes make me nervous.

Peachie why would you recommend getting pet insurance?

Well pet insurance is always good to have just in case anything ever happens to me, or any pet.  Accidents happen and even young dogs such as myself can have issues.  I am healthy as a horse right now, but you never know what can happen in the future.  Think about it, humans have health insurance, why shouldn’t pets?  We have to go to the vets just like humans go to the doctors, so why not pay a little throughout the year instead of having to pay a large fee upfront?

Peachie is a very smart girl, she realizes that pet insurance is extremely important for any pet owner!  If you’re interested in getting a quote for your furry friend, call us at MassDrive!

Peachie is a very cute and unique girl, she would make a wonderful pet for a young, active adult or couple.  Peachie has been looking for her forever home for a while, would you be willing to open your heart  to a new best friend?  If you’re interested in adopting Peachie contact the Lowell Humane Society.
