Furry Friend Friday With Bosco!

bosco 4

It’s our favorite day of the week again, Furry Friend Friday!  Our special guest this week is extra cute if you ask us, he’s a 7 month-old schnauzer mix named Bosco!  This cute little puppy is currently up for adoption at the Scituate Animal Shelter and has been there since July, so he’s overdue to find his forever family!

So Bosco, how does a cute little pup like you wind up in a shelter?

Well I was actually found as a stray on the south shore, I’m not exactly sure where, but Animal Control picked me up.  They didn’t have a facility to keep me in, so I ended up at the Scituate Animal Shelter!  I really lucked out, everyone here is so nice!  I’m definitely ready to find my forever family though, I’ve been here since July and even though everyone here is so nice, I’d love to have a family that could give me all of their attention and love!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I’m still a puppy, so I’m VERY active.  I love to run around outside, go for walks, explore new places like the beach, and play with my toys!  The staff here are always trying to get me to play fetch, and I always run after the ball but won’t pick it up and bring it back, I guess you could say I’m still figuring that game out.

Do you have a favorite toy?

I love those fluffy toys with a squeaker on the inside.  Not only are they cute and cuddly, but I can’t get enough of that squeaky sound!

Is there anything that makes you nervous?

Not really, everyone here says that I’m a very confident and outgoing boy.  I guess my time on the streets as a stray made me pretty tough!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well as you already know, I’m still a puppy, and I hate to admit it but I could definitely use some more training.  I’d need to go to a family that could be patient with me and show me the ropes so that I can be the best pet possible!  I’d also love to go to a family with kids that I could play with, the staff here think that I should go to a home with kids ages 8 and up, since I can be a bit rambunctious when I play and wouldn’t want to knock down any little kids.  My last request would be to go to a family that could handle my energy level.  I’d need to go on long walks or be able to run around inside a fenced-in back yard.

Bosco, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Hmm, well I know I’m just a young pup but it seems obvious to me that pet insurance is a good idea.  Pets can get sick or hurt unexpectedly and those vet bills can be very expensive!  I think that pet insurance sounds like a good idea because if pet owners have it, they won’t have to pay a huge bill at once if their pet needs to go to the vet.

Bosco may be young, but he’s a very quick learner!  That’s why we’re sure he’ll find the perfect family for him very soon!  If you think pet insurance sounds like something you’d be interested in, call us for a free quote and take the first step to protecting your furry friend’s future!

Furry Friend Friday With Elvira!

Elvira

We’re back with your Friday pick-me-up!  Our special guest for today’s Furry Friend Friday interview is named Elvira!  This pretty lady is a 3 year-old cat who’s up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society, she’s been there since June so she’s definitely overdue to find a family of her own!

So Elvira, how does a pretty girl like you wind up in a shelter?

Well, I actually used to have a family, but they moved and unfortunately couldn’t bring me with them, so I ended up here.  I came in with my brother, Merlin.  We’ve been together since we were kittens, so we’re very close and would love to go to a home together, although it’s not a requirement.

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I’m still young so I’m very playful!  When I get really excited I do “happy paws” and roll on my back with my paws in the air while I play with my toys, it’s pretty funny if you saw it in person.  After I’ve gotten my energy out, I enjoy sitting on window sills and just watching the world go by.  I also LOVE getting brushed.  Have you ever had someone just sit there and brush your hair?  Well let me tell you, it is amazing, especially for me with my long, luxurious fur!

It sounds  like you are a very fun lady!  Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

I really like chasing after laser beams, it never gets old for me!  I could chase after those all day, it’s a great way to keep my girlish figure in shape!

Is there anything that scares you?

I hate to admit it, but I am very scared of dogs.  They’re usually not that friendly towards me, sometimes they growl, or even try to chase me!  If you ask me, that’s just plain rude.  Who can blame me though?  Wouldn’t you be nervous if a giant, barking dog was chasing after you?  I thought so.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I could really fit in with any loving family, as long as they could handle me being so active.  Like I said, even though it’s not required, I would really really love to go to a home with my brother Merlin.  I can also be shy at first when meeting new people, but I warm up very quickly.  When it comes to kids, the shelter thinks I would be good with them, as long as they were school age and cat-savvy.

Elvira, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

I’m no doctor, but if I had to guess I’d say that pet illnesses and accidents are pretty common.  I’ve seen a lot of pets coming and going from the vet’s office, and while I’m sure they’re excited when they leave, their owners seem to be pretty upset when they see the bill.  Pet insurance seems like a good way to make sure your pets can get fixed up by the vet without their owners having to break the bank.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!  Pets get sick just like people do, and their vet bills can be just as expensive as human medical bills.  Call us today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step to protecting your furry friend’s future!

Furry Friend Friday With Arlo!

Arlo

What’s the best way to start off the weekend? With a Furry Friend Friday interview of course!  We’re back with your weekly dose of cuteness, and today the furry friend we got to speak with is Arlo!  He’s a feisty, 6 month-old terrier mix up for adoption at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem and is patiently waiting for his forever family.

So Arlo, how does a handsome guy like you find himself in a shelter?

Well believe it or not, someone left me tied to a pole!  Can you believe someone would just leave me like that?  Luckily I was found by some nice people and brought to the shelter as a stray.  I was never claimed so now I’m ready to find my new best friend!

So what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Running, running, and more running!  I may be small, but these little legs can move!  I’m still a puppy so I have a ton of energy, and I’m very curious so I love to investigate my surroundings.  I also love playing with toys, although I don’t really have a favorite one.

Is there anything that scares you?

Nope, I’m very outgoing and can’t  think of anything that scares me.  I’m kind of known as a tough guy around the shelter, they say I can be fresh but I’m not mean at all, I’ve never bitten anyone I just get mouthy when I want some attention.  I think I’m the boss and want all of your attention for myself!

Is there anything that makes you extra unique?

Even though I’m a terrier, I have very soft fur and my friends at the shelter say I can look like all different kinds of dog breeds depending on my haircut!  I used to have a cut that made me look like a schnauzer, but I think this look is much more “me”.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well first off, I’d say no young kids.  Like I said, some consider me to be fresh, and I also love attention so I don’t want any kids taking that away from me!  I don’t like being bossed around, so I would also need a dog savvy owner that would know how to discipline me.  I’d also love to be with a family that was as active as me, I have so much energy and would love to burn it off at the beach or on a hike!

Arlo, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Pets get sick just like people do, I’ve seen it with my own two eyes!  It seems like it would just make sense to have insurance to protect your pet so that if they get hurt or sick they can get the care they need without breaking the bank.

Arlo may be young, but he’s a fast learner!  He knows the value of pet insurance, and how important it can be when it comes to protecting your furry friend!  Call one of our agents today for a free quote and take the first step on the road to protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Recess!

Recess05

It’s that time of the week again, Furry Friend Friday!  Today’s interview was especially fun, that’s because we got to spend time with Recess!  No, we’re not talking about running around outside on the playground (although that would be fun), we’re talking about our furry friend!  Recess is his name, and cuteness is his game.  This handsome guy is a 1 year-old greyhound up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton.

So Recess, how did you find yourself in the good old Bay State?

Well I made my way all the way up from West Virginia if you can believe it.  During my time down there I was a racing dog!  It’s nice to be retired though, now I’m just ready and waiting to find my perfect forever family.

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I love being around people!  If I’m being totally honest, I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you I’m very friendly.  I like to think of myself as a bit of a social butterfly and love to be petted.  I’m also pretty active since I’m still a pup, I love going for long walks and running around in the grass!

Do you have a favorite toy?

I love chasing tennis balls!  I have a lot of energy and I still like to show off my speed skills.  I could chase a tennis ball around all day if I had someone to throw it to me!

Is there anything that scares you?

Hmm,  the only thing that comes to mind is change.  I don’t really like change and get a bit anxious when I’m in a new situation.  I don’t like the uncertainty it brings, but once I get used to it I turn right back into my social self.

What do you think would be the perfect ,family for you?

Well I’d need to go to a family that would be patient with me.  I’m still a pup and need some help with training, it’s just basic things and I’m a very quick learner!  I’d also be great with kids, older ones would probably be best just because of my size.  I’d also love it if I went to a home that already had a dog!  I love other dogs and could use a confident friend to show me the ropes.

Recess, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, even though I’m only one, I’ve seen a lot in my racing days and in my travels around the country.  Furry friends can get hurt or sick more often than we would all like, and pet insurance seems like a smart thing to have so people don’t have to spend all of their money at the vet!

Recess is such a smart boy, and we’re hoping he finds his forever home very soon!  When it comes to pet insurance though, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step on the road to protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Barcelona!

Barcelona

Can you think of a better way to kick off a long weekend than by reading about an adorable furry friend? Neither can we!  Today we got to chat with Barcelona, an exotic girl who’s up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter.  This cute girl is a 5 month-old terrier mix who traveled a long way to find her forever family!

So Barcelona, I hear you’ve traveled a long way to be here, where are you originally from?

You’re right!  I’m actually from Puerto Rico, my name might make you think I’d be from Spain, but nope!  I just arrived here in the U.S. and I’ve only been in the shelter for a few days.  Everyone here is so nice but I’d really like to find a home of my own with a yard where I can run and play!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I really like to relax and snuggle!  Is there anything better than getting a nice belly rub at the end of the day?  I didn’t think so.  I also really like to play with toys, I have a lot to choose from at the shelter so I’m very lucky!  I’m not your typical puppy though, I tend to be pretty quiet and I’m not hyperactive at all.  I would love to go to a home where my new family would pet me all day long!

Is there anything that scares you?

Not at all, I’m a very brave girl and everyone here says I’ve adjusted to my new life quite nicely.  I’m so grateful to have a second chance and can’t wait to find my forever family!  When I was in Puerto Rico I didn’t have a family of my own or a warm bed to sleep in, and those days were scary.  Now that I’m here I’m just excited to start my new life!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

I’m not picky at all,  I would be happy anywhere!  I love all people and am very gentle so I’d be great with kids,  having some human brothers and sisters to run around with would be awesome!  My new family would just need to be patient with me and bring me to some puppy training classes, I’m not fully trained yet so I need someone to work with me but I’m a very fast learner!

Barcelona, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Hmm, well pets get sick just like people do, and if people have insurance it only makes sense that pets would too!  From what I’ve heard the vet can be pretty expensive, I know I wouldn’t want to be stuck with a huge bill if my friend got sick, and pet insurance seems like a good way to avoid that.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!  Vet bills can add up quickly, and pet insurance is an affordable way to make sure your pet can get the health care they need if the situation arises.  Call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and begin the process of protecting your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Bijoux!

bijoux

It’s that time of the week, time to feature an adorable, fluffy, furry friend up for adoption in Massachusetts!  Today’s special guest for Furry Friend Friday is named Bijoux, he’s a 6 year-old black cat up for adoption at the Scituate Animal Shelter, and he’s been there for a while now so he’s overdue to find his forever family.  This little guy is a real love so if you think he looks like your new best friend be sure and pay him a visit!

So Bijoux, I understand that you’ve been at the shelter for a while now, how long exactly?

I’ve been here for three months so far, so I’m definitely ready to get out of here!  Don’t get me wrong, everyone at the shelter is great, but I just want to find a place and a family that I can call mine.  Sometimes it’s tougher for adult black cats to find homes, everyone wants a little kitten or thinks we’re bad luck, but look at me, do I look like bad luck to you?

No not at all, you actually are quite dashing!  What does a handsome cat like you like to do all day?

I’m pretty simple really, and I like to think I’m mature for my age.  I like to lounge around like your typical cat, and when it’s warm out you might find me up on the counter where it’s nice and cool.  I also love being around people, that’s my favorite thing, I’ll run right up to visitors to greet them and let them know I’m there.  I’m social and friendly when I want to hang out, but I’m no stage 5 clinger or overly pushy, I can take a hint when someone wants their space.

Is there anything that makes you nervous?

Nothing comes to mind, unless there was a giant dog chasing after me, then I might get a little nervous but who wouldn’t?  I usually get along with most dogs that I meet though, so that hasn’t been an issue but if it were to happen I can imagine it would be terrifying.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Not to toot my own horn but I can’t get along with anyone, adults and children alike and even other cats and dogs!  I’ve lived with dogs before and as long as they are mellow and cat-savvy I’m sure we’ll get along great!  I’m very tolerant of all the young kittens that are here in the shelter with me, they’re always reaching for me and trying to play and I don’t mind at all, and I used to be around children in my old home so I know I’ll be fine if my future forever family has any little members.  I’m really just looking for anyone that will love me and make me their new best friend!

Bijoux, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well I’ve been lucky enough to stay pretty healthy so far in life, but I know that whether it’s from an accident or illness, most pets do eventually have health issues at some point.  It seems like a smart idea to have pet insurance so you don’t have to pay for those costs out of pocket, from what I hear the vet can be really expensive!

Bijoux is so smart!  He understands the value of having a policy in place to protect your furry friend, because after all, they are part of the family!  Call us today for a free pet insurance quote and make sure your best friend, and your wallet are protected.

Furry Friend Friday With Fat Louie!

fat louie 2

Happy Furry Friend Friday!  Today’s special guest is named Fat Louie!  This cute little feline is 3 years old and is up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society.  He’s been at the shelter for a couple of months now and can’t understand why someone hasn’t taken him home yet!  If you’re looking for a big cuddle bug to watch TV with, Fat Louie is your guy so stop in and pay him a visit!

So Fat Louie, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I like to get up early and watch the sun rise to start my day, I’m a big morning person, er cat I should say.  After that I like to play with some of my toys, cuddle with my favorite people, and then sit by the window and bird watch.

Do you have a favorite toy to play with?

Where do I begin?  I love scratching posts of course, but then again what cat doesn’t?  I also love chasing those little toy mice around, especially when they’re sprayed with catnip!  Chasing those around helps keep me in shape, my name may be Fat Louie but that doesn’t mean I have to live up to it!

Is there anything that scares you?

Well sometimes I can get nervous when I meet new people, I tend to be a little shy but once I’ve been around them for a while and get to know them, I go right back to being my usual playful and friendly self.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well my first request would be to go to a family with a nice window where I can bird watch and sunbathe.  The next most important thing would be to go with a family that would be able to commit to my special diet, you see when I came to the shelter I had a UTI and my family couldn’t afford the care, so they had to turn me over to the shelter.  I’m fine now but I will need to be on a special diet for the rest of my life to prevent further issues, but from what I hear it’s a common thing among cats.  I’d be great with older kids that are cat-savvy, maybe other cats as long as we could meet first, and dogs as well.  You see, I used to live with a dog and we would play and chase each other around all the time!  It was a lot of fun so if I found all of those things in one family, I’d be the happiest cat ever!

Fat Louie, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well look at me for example, I had a simple UTI which can easily be treated, but it was still too expensive for my family to pay for, so they had to surrender me.  Maybe if they had pet insurance they would have been able to afford my care and been able to keep me.

This is a perfect example of why pet insurance is such a good investment for pet parents, not being able to afford your furry friend’s care can have awful consequences, so call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and take the first step to protect your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Dobson!

dobson

Have you ever seen a face this cute? Meet Dobson, an 8 year-old greyhound girl up for adoption at Greyhound Friends, Inc in Hopkinton!  She’s today’s special guest for Furry Friend Friday and is very excited for her moment in the spotlight.  This sweet girl has spent years as a racing dog and a breeder, so she’s ready to relax and be pampered by her forever family!

So Dobson, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well, I am getting a little older, and I’ve done a lot in my life so now I mainly like to relax and be around people.  I love being petted and cuddling with my people, but I still enjoy going out for walks every day.  Even though I’m getting on in my years, I still have a lot of life left and love to give!

Do you have a favorite toy?

I actually don’t play with toys too often, but I do have a blanket that I really love!  I like laying on it during the day, it’s so warm and comfy I feel snug as a bug in a rug when I curl up on it.

Is there anything that scares you?

I’d say loud noises tend to make me nervous some times.  We’ve been having a lot of thunder storms this summer, and the loud thunder can get to me.  I’m sure it won’t be as scary once I find a forever family that can cuddle with me when a storm is on its way though.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I’m really easy to get along with, just ask anyone here at the shelter!  If I could choose my perfect family though, I would choose to go with a family that loves to cuddle and relax but would still bring me for walks every day.  They wouldn’t have to be very long walks, just some time for me to get outside and sniff around while getting some fresh air.  I’m very mild-mannered and can be shy at first, but I know the right family will just fall in love with me.  I’m great with other dogs and would be fine with grade-school age kids as long as they were dog-savvy and didn’t pull on my ears or tail.  I’m an all around love bug and am ready to go to my forever home!

Dobson, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, all pets need to go to the vet for one thing or another throughout their life, so having pet insurance seems like a good way to make sure your pet can get the vet care they need without you having to max out your credit cards.

Dobson is as smart as she is cute!  Pet insurance is an affordable way to protect your pet like a member of the family, because pets are a part of the family after all!  Call one of our agents for a free pet insurance quote today and take the first step to protect your furry friend!

Furry Friend Friday With Rayna!

rayna

Happy Furry Friend Friday!  It’s our favorite day of the week, how many of you can say that you get to chat with cute animals every Friday?  Today our special guest is Rayna, a 2 year-old dachshund and terrier mix up for adoption at the Sterling Animal Shelter.  She’s been at the shelter for over a month now, which is far too long for someone with a face as cute as hers!  Rayna is ready for her forever home, so if you think she could be your new best friend pay her a visit!

So Rayna, what’s your favorite way to spend the day?

I’m just your typical pup I’d say, I love going out for walks!  I’d say that’s my favorite thing, the staff here at the shelter are awesome and bring me for about four walks a day!  After that I love playing with some toys to burn off the rest of my energy, and once I’m tuckered out there’s nothing better than a cuddle sesh with my favorite people.  I love to snuggle and jump up on laps, I’m only 20 pounds though so I’m not too heavy, I’d say I’m the perfect size for a lap dog!

Do you have a favorite toy that you like to play with?

I can’t choose one specific toy, but I love all plush squeaky toys!  Those are my favorite, I love getting a hold of them and running around and teasing my people with them, they think they can snatch it away from me, but I’m too quick for them!

Is there anything that scares you?

I wouldn’t use the word scare, I’d say loud commotion makes me nervous, and I tend to be timid around young children.  The way I see it, young children usually cause loud commotion, and sometimes they aren’t always dog-savvy and will pull on my tail and ears, which can be really annoying and even painful!

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well, first off I think I would need to go to a home with kids that are ages 12 and up.  Other than that I would hope that my new family would be active and like to bring me on walks, I’ve always wanted to go to the beach so maybe that’s something we could try.  I don’t have any other requests, I just want to be loved and petted by an awesome family that will love me forever!

So Rayna, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well, pets can get sick just like people can, so doesn’t it make sense to get them insurance too?  I know the vet can get pretty expensive, I think sometimes it’s just as hard for people to go as it is for pets, pet insurance seems like a smart way to make sure you can get your furry friend the care they need without emptying your savings.

Rayna is as smart as she is cute!  When it comes to pet insurance, we couldn’t have said it better ourselves, so call one of our agents today for a free pet insurance quote and get your furry friend the protection they deserve!

Furry Friend Friday With Keeno!

keeno

It’s our favorite time of the week, and not just because it’s Friday, but because it’s Furry Friend Friday!  Today we got to chat with Keeno, a handsome guy who’s up for adoption at the Lowell Humane Society.  He’s a mastiff mix and is about 7 years-old, he’s been at the shelter since March, so he is definitely overdue to find his forever family!

So Keeno, how did you end up at the shelter?

It’s kind of a long story, but basically I was in New York and was found tied up outside as a stray, and then I was brought here, and was found as a stray again!  It’s been a rough road and I’ve been bounced around a lot, but I’m really hopefully that my new family will be my forever family!

What’s your favorite way to spend the day?

Well I really love to cuddle and be around my favorite people, I follow them around and sit at their feet whenever I can!  If you sat on the floor, I’d probably try and sit on your lap as well, I know I’m a big boy but I’m still a baby at heart.  I also like to go for short walks, I used to be more active but I’ve been on a restricted activity level due to a recent knee surgery.

Knee surgery? That doesn’t sound fun at all, what was wrong with it?

I had a chipped bone in my patella, I’m on the road to recovery, but I still need people to be patient with me while I recover.  I need to walk slow and have plenty of rest, I also need more mental stimulation like games and maybe even some kong toys filled with peanut butter!

Do you have a favorite toy that you like to play with?

I really love all types of chew toys, and now that I can’t move around as much I spend a lot of time playing with them!

Is there anything that scares you?

Nothing comes to mind really, I’m a pretty tough boy, can’t you tell?  I’ve seen a lot in my days and nothing really made me nervous.

What do you think would be the perfect family for you?

Well I’d definitely need to be the only pet, I want all of the attention for myself!  Other than that, I’d need to go with a family that will be patient with me during my recovery, which should only last another month or so.  I’d also like to go with a family that would take me on long walks and even hikes once I’ve recovered fully.

So Keeno, why do you think pet insurance is a good thing for all pet parents to consider?

Well look at me for example, my surgery would have been very expensive to pay for!  Luckily the shelter and some very generous people were able to cover it, but if I had an owner who didn’t have pet insurance, my surgery would have taken a major chunk out of their savings account!

Keeno is a perfect example of why all pet owners should consider investing in pet insurance.  Call one of our agents for a free pet insurance quote today and take the first step in protecting your furry friend!
